Dropbox on Windows 7 - unable to login at system start
Suddenly Dropbox (since couple of versions - my latest is 195.4.4995) stopped to login automatically on system startup. Greyed out icon is available in system tray but Dropbox cannot login. I need manually close it and run it again to start. I uninstalled it and installed fresh version but the output is the same... Any ideas how I can fix this inconvenience?
Hi Again Hannah, I think I've found the culprit. Out of curiosity I've checked Windows Services and I've found that service "debupdatem" was switched to manual mode. When I made it as "delayed automatic mode" Dropbox started to work without issues.

Hi Hannah. That was the first thing I've checked up. Both Dropbox services are set up as automated with delayed start, as yesterday...

Thanks for the update!
Hmm, can you let me know if you can access dropbox.com as normal from your browser?

Hi Hannah, when Dropbox app is trying to login (screenshot 1) I cannot click on "web" icon (it's greyed out) and go straight to Dropbox page. But through web browser it's not a problem. When I open Dropbox page during failing attempt of login to the app, Dropbox page shows me I'm logged and all is fine (screenshot 2)

Thanks for keeping me updated, cachaito.
One more thing I can think of is that Windows 7 needs the security update KB3033929 for the Dropbox desktop app to work properly; can you check if you have this update?

Hi Hannah. I already got this security update (screen attached). I think it's a Dropbox fail during start. It tries to connect once and stops but my internet connection can be resolved sometimes a little bit longer. Dropbox should try to connect in intervals after start, not only tries once and stop while telling user that it really tries 🙂

when my windows 11 laptop is started without internet and the dropbox desktop app is started at startup also without internet then the app does not login afterwards when there is an internet connection.
it keeps on trying to connect but is does not succeed, the icon stays grey.
the only way is closing the app and start it again en then it does login without any issues.
version is the latest : 1934.9600

Hi marcelbrt, welcome to our Community!
It seems you accidentally sent the wrong app version, so I'm not sure if the version of the app is 193.4... or 194.3...
I'm asking because I'd like to clarify if we're referring to the beta version of the app, or the stable one.
Also, I merged your post under a similar thread, where the OP had the same issue that you mentioned.
Would you like to have a look at the steps that helped them, and let me know if that does the trick for you?
I'll be waiting for your reply!
