You should be able to find the relevant option in the app's settings

    Luckystar1952

On your Android device, follow these steps:

    1. Tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
    2. Select "Settings"
    3. Select “Clear Cache”

Once this is done then please ensure you log out of the Dropbox application, then restart your device and log back in again.

Same problem, solution doesn't work for me (Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, all latest updates).

    - opening via dropbox app > Word = "read only" message

    - opening via dropbox app > Microsoft 365 (Office)" app = no such message window, but when trying to save (either disk icon or via check-icon and then "<--" icon I can only save as Copy.

I un-/re-installed the dropbox app and repeatedly deleted local files (app data / cache).

Sorry to hear the issue persists, kn03del

Can you let me know what’s your Dropbox app’s version? You can check this via the app’s settings.

Hi kn03del, have you tried any of the troubleshooting steps mentioned throughout this thread, such as clearing your app's cache, or uninstalling, then re-installing the app?

Just asking, to make sure we're on the same page here.

If you could attach some screenshots of the error you get on your end when you work on the file, that'd be lovely.

Megan, seriously? I stated that I did exactly all of this in my initial post.
Just asking, to make sure we're on the same page here.
Because I don't want to waste my time if user input is not taken seriously here.

Hey kn03del, what is the exact OS version of your device?

If uninstalling and reinstalling the app didn't help, can we send you an email, so we can take a closer look?
