Monterey and problems with offline files, and Indesign files.
Hello Dropbox Community,
Tried to post in French, but maybe English friends can help as well π
I'm having some trouble using Dropbox since I installed Monterey on my macbook pro, which I didn't have before. I will try to be as clear as possible.
- Impossible to have a preview (preview finder) of files only hosted online, without having to make them accessible offline...
- When I work on software such as Adobe Suite, Indesign CC, Illustrator or other, it becomes very complicated. For example: if I reopen an Indesign file that is not accessible offline, all my links are disabled. So far, nothing serious, all graphic design afficionados experience this kind of problem... and we have automated solutions for that. BUT now, when I want to "re-link" my links to the source files, if ever these source files are online and not local/offline, I have to make them accessible offline one by one according to the destination folders, otherwise the import in Indesign fails. Not cool π
Of course you can find workarounds, use an Indesign file package, make sure you have all the links in the same folder, etc. But I didn't have this problem before, and I find it really laborious.
Any suggestion? Any improvement on Dropbox side? Did I miss something in this update / Monterey / Dropbox?

As Walter mentioned here, since we are actively working on full support for macOS 12.3, you may have trouble accessing online-only files in third party apps.

As for the Indesign situation you described, does that happen with all of your online-only files?

As for Indesign situation, yes it happens with all files. I can add that my colleagues have same problems on different devices, all under Monterey.

Hello all together
I have the same problem in InDesign with files that are online only and despair almost every day when I have to edit InDesign jobs where I have to locate the files in the Finder first and download them every time.
Now I have discovered a workaround:
- Open a job in InDesign
- Select all entries in βLinks"
- Right-click on the menu item "Edit With" > "Preview 11.0".
- After all files have been opened in Preview, close Preview.
- Switch back to InDesign.
- Continue working.
I hope this helps some of you.

Any updates on this? It really wrecks my workflow for both Indesign & Bridge.
I received an e-mail from dropbox today pointing me to a software-update "Dropbox for macOS on File Provider."

Not sure if this is appointed per account, or a general solution, but this certainly works like a charm.
