Reinstalled the Dropbox app and it wants to rename my Dropbox folder
Sadly, I had already downloaded another and have a problem -- instead of picking up my old dropbox folder, the installer wants to rename it. I'm not sure what to do now. except reboot in the middle of the installation process. Sounds fun, eh?

Hey muddleglum, on the first screenshot it looks like you had the option to merge content.
Did you try this, by any chance?

Yes, and got the next one almost immediately. Did you get that last one?
edited. Which button on the last one should I use? I don't want to rename the folder or put it somewhere else -- too many things point to files in dropbox. - Hannah9 months ago

Gotcha! To be honest, I haven't reproduced this behavior you reported.
The safest option we can suggest from our side is to proceed with "Rename" or "Choose another location" and have the files sync anew from the web.
I'm afraid that there's no other route I can suggest. I understand that this isn't how you'd like to proceed; however, if you decide to follow my advice, please let me know if you run into an issue or if you have any questions at all.
Aside from that, I wanted to thank you for the details provided so far!

I'm back again.
I tried "Choose another folder" got another dialog box that allowed me to type in a new name, hit enter, then another dialog box came up saying that it cannot make a new folder. Want pictures?

Did you notice that the previous "Advanced Settings" picture is doubled? That might be a clue that y'all have sent me a version that doesn't work on my system. As it is, it makes it difficult to find and click buttons and such.

Sure, muddleglum! A visual would definitely be appreciated.
If possible, I’d like a screenshot of what you see right after clicking on the “Choose another location” button (as shown above) and one more of what happens next.

Nancy, Did you read the other reply I wrote at about the same time as my earlier one (that you are replying to)? I'm sure that might be a clue. II'm having a HARD time clicking the buttons on your "Welcome to Dropbox!," etc. dialogs. The buttons have to be guessed at unless they are doubled. Are you sure that this is for windows 10? I have given you'all one screenshot of "Advance Settings" that show some doubling. However, none of the other screenshots show any problem, even the worst of them.
Anyway, I'm slowing feeling my way again, as usual, hoping that I don't push the wrong button. Fun. - Walter9 months ago

Hey muddleglum - could you send me a screenshot of what's troubling you exactly and let me know where you stand on the reinstalling process?
We might need to send you an email to have a further look internally at this point, so any visual aids or additional information are more than welcome!
