"A JavaScript error occurred in the main process"
Initially Capture was working on a Windows 10 laptop, then I believe that the user attempted a reinstall of Capture without realizing it, and now the laptop is unable to run Capture: Javascript error "Uncaught Exception: Error: \\?\C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\dropboxcapture_90.0.5.0_x64_wkt425jdc3sga\app\resource...\apex.node is not a valid Win32 application." etc. immediately appears every time. I haven't been able to fix this despite rebooting, Capture - Repair and Reset, and multiple re-downloads, removals, and re-installs of Capture.
Hello all,
We released a fix for this issue on July 6th, 2023 in v103.9.0 of Capture. For anyone who experienced this issue before that date, please try installing Capture again from https://www.dropbox.com/capture 🙂

Hi gherson, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
You mentioned that a user attempted the reinstallation of the program.
Was this on your computer, or a company-managed device?
This will help me to assist further!

This is on a personal laptop.
(We aren't sure what exactly lead to the error. I'm guessing from a description of events.)
Thanks for your help.

Could you try quitting the normal Dropbox desktop application and then attempt to uninstall and reinstall the Dropbox Capture app?

The user set up a user account at dropbox.com when the Capture install needed her to, but the Dropbox Desktop app was never installed on the laptop. I confirmed that many ways: Start menu, running tasks, Windows registry: None had a mention.

Hey gherson, would it be okay if I reach out via email, in order to have a closer look into this?

yes Megan and anyone else who'd rather not post (in favor of me posting a summary of the solution, as I understand it).

I am having this same problem when trying to launch Dropbox Capture for the first time. It has never run successfully. The Dropbox app is installed on this system and works fine. Windows 10 Pro.

Hi James_GT_22, I'd be happy to help!
It might sound trivial, but have you tried re-starting your device, by any chance? What happens if you try to uninstall the app, then re-install?
Let me know more!
