The Microsoft files on Windows 11 are prompting for a Dropbox sign in every time I try to open them.
Hello,
I have the Dropbox desktop app installed and every time I open Excel or Word this Login screen appears asking to "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office 365"
Is there a way to disable this?

Operating System/Browser (if using the web)

Hi all,
There's been some progress made on this issue. Here are some new troubleshooting steps while this is being looked into:
- The issue should be fixed for account holders who NEVER integrated their account with Microsoft Office 365 API app.
- If members are still seeing the popup it means that at some point they did login / integrate and then decided to remove “Dropbox For Teams” from MST Office.
- Members that did integrate at some point with the API app and later decided to remove integration, should go to https://www.dropbox.com/account/connected_apps and manually disconnect Microsoft Office 365 app. See attached screenshot.
- Member needs to wait 2 hours and restart a desktop app after disconnecting an app.
This is still being looked into but hopefully this should help some of you in the meantime.
I've flagged all of these cases internally to be looked into.

bblu2095 Thanks for this. I tried those options in Word that you suggest, but I am still getting the login prompt. you may be suggesting that we need to disable coauthoring? If yes, how do we do that, can it be done in Dropbox Admin for the entire team. Thanks again.

I think the admin guide page I linked also has instructions for enabling/disabling co-authoring

Step 1 - Open Preferences on Dropbox app
Step 2 - Toggle Off "Show Dropbox in Microsoft Office as a Save location
Step 3 - Close the Dropbox App and Restart it OR restart your PC

Yes, that's been done. Also have turned off the "Save to Cloud" in Office.
The window still appears telling me to login to DropBox. I don't think there are any more toggles to be toggled, but more a fix by the DropBox team.

Yes, my users are seeing this as well. Even with everything turned off. It is not a good user experience! Hopefully there will be a fix soon pushed to the app.

I solved the issue by going into account privacy, manage settings, and turning off all 'Connected Experiences'

Hmmm... I tried this and thought it worked. But realized after the computer restart that Dropbox just hadn't restarted up again. Once it's restarted, that window is back.
Alas.........

Sorry, I wasnt detailed enough.
I had to do that in each 365 app that has that option.
For me (and my office) we made the change in word, outlook & excel.

Got it. I went into Outlook, Excel and PPT and the box is unchecked in all but that annoying popup is still showing.
So far, I don't know that there is anything more to turn off... I have:
In Office:
- Turned OFF connected experiences
- Turned OFF AutoSave files to Cloud
- Turned ON Save to Computer by Default
- REMOVED Dropbox as a connected service
In Dropbox:
- Turned OFF Show Dropbox in Microsoft Office as a save location
