Got an email for an upgrade to Essentials, but I don't have a Professional plan
I just got an email from Dropbox saying: "We’re providing you with a free upgrade from your Dropbox Professional plan to our new Dropbox Essentials plan at no extra cost." However, I do not have Professional. I did at some point, but not anymore for several months. So I'm just wondering is it some common bug and several people have recieved such messages by mistake - or is it just me? And will I end up getting a bill for a Pro plan I didn't want? 😕

Hey AnnaSu - thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Do you happen to have more than one Dropbox accounts perhaps?
Is the email address you received this email notification the exact same as the one you see on your account's settings?
Let us know more and we'll take it from there, Anna.

As far as I know I only have one dropbox account, at least I most definitely am not paying for any professional account. I can see Basic on my account settings page. And yes the email address is the same.

I see, thanks for clarifying that for us AnnaSu - would it be OK if we reached out to have a further look internally?

Had a similar issue. I am a professional plan user (paid monthly) with 3TB of storage and got an email welcoming me to my new Essentials Plan which is $3-4 more per month and only paid annually? I did not "upgrade" to this plan at any time.

Hi kpurcell, welcome to our Community!
When you say "welcoming you to our Essentials plan" do you mean that the plan was similar to the one the OP mentioned?
Did it ask if you wish to try the new plan, by any chance?
Is it possible that you have two separate accounts? If you have any screenshots, feel free to share them with me.
Let me know more!

I'm happy with the Professional Plan I had and always having to ignore constant requests to upgrade my account. So I would not have tried out any new plan.
I received and email about choosing a new plan which I did not do:
Also when logging into my Dropbox webpage it had a welcome popup and a new dark themed page.
The biggest issue for me is the new plan is more expensive, has features I'm not interested in and forces me to now pay annually instead of monthly.

I received exactly the same email and wanted to report it as phishing. I have never heard of Essentials and I DO NOT want to change my plan.

Let me explain: it seems that your Dropbox Professional account has been upgraded to the new Essentials plan at no extra cost to you.
What does that mean? You’ll keep all the features you had on the Professional plan, as well as some additional functionality, including end-to-end eSignature features and document tracking and analytics.
You mentioned that the cost is extra. Can you let me know what is the difference you see when visiting your billing page?
