'Upgrade your browser to use Dropbox: OEM DELL APP' error when redeeming promotion

I am creating a new discussion, since the original discussion which is under the same title with out the OEM DELL APP, and was not started by me, has been locked.

Here is what has happened. Dell had an app which gave you 20 GB of space in your Dropbox account, when you bought a Dell computer. This app has stopped working for quite a while now. I believe that it is using either Internet Explorer, or an older browser version which can not be updated. This app was preinstalled on I believe eligible computer, but I am not sure since my computer was the first Dell computer I have seen, which had this app.

Have you tried to change the default browser in your OS and tried to redeem the offer again? Most often those types of apps just open a window in whatever the default browser is set to.

Change your default browser to one of the browsers supported by Dropbox, and try again.

I know the default browser is a supported version, aka the latest version of Edge, but it seems that the default browser does not affect it.

The default browser is the latest version of Edge, so I know that it is not affected by the browser version.

Hi superJames, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

When you say that the has stopped working for a while, could you clarify what you mean by that? Were you using that app before? When approximately did you purchase the laptop?

Are you trying to activate the promotion on a new or existing Dropbox account?

This will help me to assist further!

I am trying to activate the 20 GB promotion on this account. The issue is, that back in the past, Dell had a promotion with Dropbox with a purchase of a new Dell computer, you get 20GB of space. I learned that it stopped working for a while, due to an old forum post by someone else, and from when I tried to redeem it.

Hey superJames - thanks for the additional info - much appreciated. May we reach out via email to have a further look internally? This way we'd be able to investigate with account and device specific information.
