Backing up computer problem
Just established my dropbox account and trying to follow instructions to back up my computer but "preferences" does NOT display when I click on my avatar so cannot get anywhere.

Remember that it's referring to clicking your avatar in the Dropbox application on your computer; not on the Dropbox website.

Hi there NEWBIEONE, thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community.
Can you confirm that you're following these steps and that you're looking in the app's preferences?
Thanks!

Hi Walter,
Thanks for your help.
I was trying to follow the directions as I understood them...Log into my account, click on avatar, click "preferences"....but "preferences" not appearing in drop down menu from clicking on avatar. I have since contacted support and Donald has been excellent in offering help but wants screenshots to guide me which I will provide once I get my head around that. I congratulate Dropbox on the level of support offered.

THANKS for your help Rich,
I clicked on my avatar when logged into my Dropbox home page...I'm sure the solution is out there somewhere but still not sure what I am doing wrong.

I have the same problem as NEWBIEONE - I cannot see the avatar in the top right hand corner using (I think) the app - maybe someone can help please?
Thanks

Hey there Wan34, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you clarify your device's exact OS version and the version and status of the desktop app as shown in your menu bar/system tray?

Hi Walter - if I click the Dropbox Icon as you advised it comes up with a list of all the files that are stored on my Dropbox - no sign of any version number?
I am running it on a Windows 10 laptop - how do I find the exact version please?

Hey Wan34, the sync status and version of the app will appear if you hover your mouse over the Dropbox icon.
