How to disable two step verification

Hi all, I have an issue to login in dropbox.

I have always been able to log in without a two-step verification (6 digit verification code). Unfortunately, the last time I logged in, I clicked on the "public network" instead of "private". But I always logged in private so far!
I have already changed my WLAN on the laptop to "private".
And in the Dropbox settings-security-security code is also NOT active, but I have to enter a code every time I log in. How can I disable this code again and log in as before only with my email+password WITHOUT security code?

Many greetings from Germany
Juliane

Hi Juliane01, thanks for messaging the Community.

Are you referring to the code sent to you via email, or the verification code from a security app?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hi Jay,
yes it's the code, which is sent by email.
    Best regards

This email is generally sent if the Dropbox site is accessed and logged in from an unknown location, or if using a VPN, along with other security detection methods.

Setting the network to public or private shouldn't make any difference when it comes to logging into the site.

    Hi Jay,
I started using Dropbox and logged in without the code many years. 4 weeks ago I logged in in the same location and I was asked if "public" or "private". After I clicked wrong "public" I got this code via email. Now it's not possible to log in without the code in every locations. I'm lost...!

Hello Juliane! Hope it’s OK to jump in, too.

Do you mind sending over a screenshot of the prompt you receive each time you wish to enter your Dropbox account? Just make sure you’ve hidden your email address, before uploading it here.

    Hi Nancy,

oh yes, great thx to find a solution too!

here you see my log in screen. First you see the general log in site, second picture is the photo of the security code I get via email. (pictures in German, hopefully it's okay for you).

    Best regards

Hey Juliane01, just wanted to give you some info on this as well.

Basically, this one-time security code email is sent to you, if Dropbox detects a "suspicious" sign-in attempt, but it's not related to two-step verification.

You can read more about it here.

At the moment, there's no way to disable this email, but we appreciate your feedback and I'll happily pass it along to our team.

    Hi Hannah,

okay thanks for your feedback with the right explanation of my issue.

But that's a pity that Dropbox can't disable this mail, it's very annoying and fills my mailbox uselessly.

I hope this can be fixed in the future.

    Best regards
