I need help accessing my Dropbox account. No access to email, so I can't receive the security code.

Subject: Urgent Account Recovery Request – Lost Gmail Access

Hello Dropbox Support,

My Dropbox account is registered under the email address [email removed as per Community Guidelines]. I have lost access to this Gmail account and cannot receive verification codes. I attempted the recovery form multiple times, but it now says I have tried too many times and instructs me to contact support.

I have always used the free Dropbox plan. To help verify ownership, here are details I can provide:
- Devices I used with Dropbox: [list PC names, phone models]
- Shared folders/files I remember: [list names]
- Contacts I shared with: [list emails if possible]
- Any old Dropbox emails/screenshots I still have
- Approximate date I created the account: [month/year]

I kindly request that you manually verify my account and update the linked email to a new one I control, so I can regain access to my files.

Thank you for your assistance,
Freddy

Then the issue is different. You have set up 2 factor security on your account which you do to tell Dropbox to not allow anybody with out that code access to your account. Its unlikely they can revoke that.

When you set up 2FA you are forced (by ticking to confirm you have done so) to download and save codes to allow access in without the phone/device. You need to use them, if you dont have them you are really going to struggle.

Your only option is to contact Support, but as Mark said, it may not be possible to recover the account.

Dropbox uses the email address for account verification. If you can't access the email they then may not give you access, and there's no way to pay to gain access. This is why it's so important that you maintain a valid email address, not just for Dropbox, but for any service that uses an email address as a login or for verification.

Only Support will be able to assist you further with this, and know if there are other options. I'd suggest opening a ticket as Megan suggested, then reply here with the ticket number.

Hey freddygalloway911, let's jump right into this!

Please keep in mind that this is a public forum. It'd be wiser to refrain from sharing personal information such as your phone number, and email address.

Now onto the actual issue about the security code. I’d recommend getting in contact with our support team directly to look into this matter in more detail.

You can do this by opening an incognito/private browsing window, while not signed into your account, and accessing this link. From there you should be able to contact support. Make sure to pick an email to which you can receive and send emails from.

Once you get a ticket ID from the automated response, please let me know the number here so I can locate it in our system. If you're having trouble doing so, let me know and we'll take it from there.

    Thanks a bunch!
