Unlinking device and deleting (clicking on trash icon) from list of unlinked devices.

I used Dropbox at a previous job in four different PCs. Once I left that job I remotely unlinked the devices that could access my Dropbox account. Its been now 5 years or so and I can still see the list of unlinked devices with "unkown" remote wipe status or "pending". It has not changed during all these years. I noticed that there is a trash icon next to these unlinked devices. I clicked on one of them and one of those unlinked devices disappeared from the list. See the picture below.

*What does this mean?

*Could that unlinked device still one day have access to my account?

*Is it the same whether I hit the trash icon or not?

*Should I hit the trash icon on the remaining devices?

Another question: I noticed that the location of these unlinked devices has also changed, the PCs seem to move all over the country. So Dropbox knows their location, but doesnt know if the remote wipeout actually worked. How is this possible?

Thank you

Hey G2018 - thanks for posting on our Community and happy Friday!

Since this would require some account specific information, would it be OK If we sent you an email to have a further look internally?

    Thanks!

Hey Gustavo! If you check your email address, you should have a new email from Dropbox. Please reply back to it, and we’ll take it from there.

It means in theory they are still linked to your account and told it to remote wipe it, however, it hasnt happened for whatever reason. Probably, if a work device, because it was linked to your log on and hasnt reconnected after you left.

Remote unlinking only removes the Dropbox link, it does not delete the data UNLESS the computer connects again and it can. You are better off unlinking and physically deleting everything yourself.

Unfortunately there is no way of now deleting the data if you dont have access to the device. But, as I said, if its a work device and you handed it back they've almost certainly wiped it to rebuild so the data is deleted.
