How can I add a new PC to my existing Dropbox account?

How can I add a new PC to my existing Dropbox account?

I have an existing Free Dropbox account,  currently with 3 computers on the account. I want to remove one PC to be able to add in a W-11 PC to my account. I'm thinking the approach would be:

1. delete one of the current 3 pc's.

2. Download and install a new instance of Dropbox on the new PC.

3. Done.

But, I may have this wrong.

Can someone in the community please suggest a step-by-step to add my new PC?

Also, I would like the PC I am "retiring" to be retained in the list of previous devices which have been active in my account in the past, i case for some reason I want to put the retired PC back into my "active" 3 PCs.

Hi @stephenroberts999, thanks for contacting us!

You're correct in your thinking, you can delete the computer or mobile device from the Dropbox site.

When you only have two devices, you'll be able to install and sign into the app on your new PC.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know!

Hi Jay!

Thanks for your reply.

My secondary question was if the PC that I remove from the currently-active 3, will the removed PC still show in the list of previous devices which have been associated with my account? In case I want to re-activate it among the 3 active PCs.

Thanks!

-Steve

It should appear there, however, if you decide to reconnect it, then the system would determine it to be a different device.
