Dropbox stopped syncing 2 weeks ago. Where are the files?

About 2 weeks ago my Dropbox files stopped syncing from my PC to the cloud. I noticed it today when I tried to use the right-click menu in my Dropbox PC folder to share a link. It was not working. I looked at the dropbox app in my system tray and saw it stuck on "Updating account." I logged into the dropbox website and noticed the 2 week gap between the files in on my PC's dropbox folder and the site.

I had to uninstall Dropbox and reinstall it on my PC. Now after everything re-synched, the files in that 2 week gap are gone. When one places a file in the Dropbox folder on your PC and it fails to sync to the service, where does it go? Is there some cache location I can check to recover these files? There were no errors or warnings or anything to tip me off that this could be a problem.

Hey @Chris404, thanks for reaching out to our Community.

Unfortunately, if the files never made it to our servers, I'm not sure if there's a way to recover them.

You can find the cache folder by following the steps here, to see if you can locate them.

I hope this helps.
