Dropbox stuck in "indexing" state on Windows 11, no files downloaded or uploaded

Dropbox stuck in "indexing" state on Windows 11, no files downloaded or uploaded

Hi,

I've been using Dropbox for years without issues, but on my new Windows 11 PC, the app is stuck in "Indexing" status - no files are synched, downloaded, or uploaded. What I tried so far:

- Restarting the app as well the PC

- Reinstalling the app

- Disabling firewall

- Closing the processes (there are usually 7 of them running at the same time...?)

- Fix permissions, Fix hardlinks options

- Selective synching only one small folder (just a few files, not big ones)

- Save hard drive space setting Off, new files Available offline

...but still no change - no files are downloaded. Then I tried placing a small txt file in the Dropbox folder, and it's not uploading either.

The only indication of a problem I see is a note in the app saying "Dropbox is experiencing some issues. Before opening online-only files and folders, right-click and choose Make available offline." - but I don't see any files in the folder, so can't right-click anything...

How can I find out more about what the problem is? Or is there anything I haven't tried yet? Thanks!

Hi @YesVojtech, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

When you reinstalled the app, did you do an advanced reinstall?

This will help me to assist further!

Hi, thank you, that solved it! 🙂 Plus it probably needed a bit more time. Now it's working as it should.
