Storage Space

Hi,
I have a Dropbox Basic account that I have been using for years. Since a few weeks now, I am having issues.
Whenver I have received storage limit notifcations in the past, I was able to remove some files from my account to free up some space.
Now I am getting notifications that my account is out of space (I received an email, have a popup at the top of my screen when I'm looking at my files in my browser, and the desktop app says I am out of space) despite that there are no files currently in my dropbox. I haven't uploaded anything out of the ordinary or particularly large to my account.
Current displays:
Desktop app: 102.4% of 2.4 GB used. Can't sync "filename" (your dropbox is out of space).
Any ideas what the root cause is, or why my space usage is not displaying the correct storage? I am perplexed as to why things were operating smoothly and are suddenly not.
Hey @JulieBee, sorry to hear about this.
Could you send us a screenshot of your plan tab and clarify where exactly are you getting a notification that you're out of quota in Dropbox?

I have received an email with a link to a Dropbox. When I select "add to Dropbox" from the email, I'm taken to my Dropbox account and this screen
This is my plan page
Hi @JulieBee, happy Friday!
Based on what you mentioned about the link, and the ability it gave you to add it to your Dropbox account, it sounds like you just received a shared folder invite.
Keep in mind, that shared folders take up space on both the sender's, and the recipient's account. Therefore, you're redirected to purchase more space, in case you need to add the content to your account.
Alternatively, you can free-up some space, by deleting some of your content and then try to add it again, depending on the folder's size.
I hope this clarifies.

@Megan, as you can see by my screen shots, I have deleted ALL OF MY CONTENT. There are no files at all. And all I'm trying to add is a single word file.
Hi @JulieBee, sorry I missed that second screenshot!
In this case, let's check why your storage is reporting as full. Is it possible that you used to have Backups enabled at some point?
If so, do you see any content there when following the below link: https://www.dropbox.com/backups/PC ?

Hi, I'm having the same issue. Here you can see I am being told I am out of storage but you can also see I'm only using 0.26GB of 2GB space
Just to further demonstrate this, this is what my subscription page is telling me
And finally, I do not have any backups in place per this.....
Can someone please help me?
Thanks
Hey @SS6005, can you please clarify when are you getting this message exactly?
If it's when trying to add a shared folder to your account, it may be larger than 2 GB, thus the message about your quota.
Keep me posted!

I'm getting it immediately, not trying to do anything but log in.
There should be a way to close this window, can you try zooming out and let me know how it goes @chosen2945?
Otherwise, you could try clearing your browser's cache or another browser.
