"Display Limit Reached" message when trying to view my photos
Hi---
I keep all my photos on Dropbox. It's usually great-- I open the app and scroll back and go back literally years and years and years. If I want to see a photo from November 2014, I could usually just scroll back there (it takes a while, but always worked).
Today, when I went to do that, I got to the end of 2019 and then my app says "Display Limit Reached" and won't show me any more photos.
I came on to the computer to check from dropbox.com. Nope. Not there either. I cannot see or find or even know where to start to find my photos. THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS.
I pay for a subscription service. My account shows that I have space remaining (a LOT of space) so what's up?
Where are my photos??? PLEASE HELP!!!

- aa5924 years agoHelpful | Level 6I have the exact same situation. They are there but basically take forever and ever to load and then my screen freezes and it’s all just a fool’s errand.
- Sandy12314 years agoHelpful | Level 6From the so-called “responses” from Dropbox, they don’t really seem to care about this issue. They keep asking for screenshots, but I’m sure they know exactly why we are all having this serious problem! I always told people how great Dropbox was and I was always extremely happy with the service, that is until this whole “display limit reached” rendered most of my photos unviewable. Even when I try to look at a photo that is within the so called acceptable date range, it will just spin and attempt to load, and then crash. Sooo frustrating! I need to find a new service that actually works. And that has people actively working on correcting known issues such as this, rather than give mindless replies!
- Glolynn724 years agoHelpful | Level 5I’m in the process of trying to transfer all of my photos from Dropbox to google photos. With them you can search for images by several different ways and filters. That has been extremely helpful to me. I refuse to pay almost $14 a month for something that isn’t even working.
Good luck!!! - Sandy12314 years agoHelpful | Level 6I agree! What a nightmare Dropbox has become. Also, if I get one more email that I’ve earned a stupid Dropbox badge. I’m going to lose it lol. I don’t need badges to make me feel good. Lol.
- aa5924 years agoHelpful | Level 6Nope nope nope nope. That’s not an acceptable solution. Why have we been able to view our photos in our phone app for literally years (ALMOST A DECADE), and now you’re saying “ohhhhh well, use a computer. Sucks to be you. We will investigate. Blah blah blah. But keep taking your money.”
NO. NOT OK. NOT OK AT ALL.
FIGURE THIS OUT. LET ME SEE MY PHOTOS LIKE I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FOR YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS. - aa5924 years agoHelpful | Level 6Ooh good to know. Maybe Google is the way to go. Do you know how to do a massive (I mean like 200k photos) file transfer from Dropbox to Google??
- katehannigan4 years agoHelpful | Level 7Dropbox, this is such a joke and so unbelievably frustrating. I don’t want to have to change platforms. Just put it back to how it was!! What is the problem???!! 😞
- katehannigan4 years agoHelpful | Level 7Even though I don’t want to have to change, I had a look around online and found a platform called pCloud which seems similar to Dropbox (but hopefully better). Does anyone have any experience with pCloud?

Hey guys, I hope you're doing well!
Keep in mind that due to performance reasons, we have a limit in place on mobile to only load 100,000 photos and then any new photos after that.
For the web this shouldn't be the case and you should be able to see all your photos. Your photos are definitely still there, we just might not load them onto the photos tab.
I hope this clarifies.
