"Display Limit Reached" message when trying to view my photos
Hi---
I keep all my photos on Dropbox. It's usually great-- I open the app and scroll back and go back literally years and years and years. If I want to see a photo from November 2014, I could usually just scroll back there (it takes a while, but always worked).
Today, when I went to do that, I got to the end of 2019 and then my app says "Display Limit Reached" and won't show me any more photos.
I came on to the computer to check from dropbox.com. Nope. Not there either. I cannot see or find or even know where to start to find my photos. THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS.
I pay for a subscription service. My account shows that I have space remaining (a LOT of space) so what's up?
Where are my photos??? PLEASE HELP!!!

- aa5924 years agoHelpful | Level 6Will you be fixing it on the app? It never used to be a problem. Now it’s a major problem.
- aa5924 years agoHelpful | Level 6Also. It doesn’t work on the browser. Moreover, I want access to my photos on my phone again — in the app— as I had for years and years and years.

Thanks for the update. I have been using Dropbox for my photos for many years and have absolutely loved it. The most appealing feature for me has always been that anytime, anywhere I could scroll, and quickly and effortlessly locate literally any photo in my Dropbox account via the photos tab.
I tried your suggestion of viewing photos from the Dropbox site via internet browser on my iPhone, and that resulted in even less photos being displayed. Scrolling stopped at the year 2018. I have also tried the same on laptop, and all of the photos do load eventually but it does take a decent amount of time so is not at all suited to finding anything quickly.
Will the display limit error in the photos tab be investigated further still, and ideally be reverted back to unlimited display? Or is it something that will not be fixed?
Thanks

Dropbox: please advise. This is massively frustrating. - Nancy4 years ago

Hi aa592 and katehannigan, I hope you’re both doing well.
I’ve passed your feedback on this to our team, so that they can see your comments.
Besides that, can you perhaps send me a screenshot of what you see on the website, when trying to load more photos? Does the issue persist when accessing your photos via a web browser on your computer, instead of your phone?

Dropbox web browser is not a problem for me personally. It is the Dropbox app on my iPhone where I get the "display limit reached" message.
- aa5924 years agoHelpful | Level 6I’ll do that later but agree with Kate— the issue is on the phone. With the app. That is what needs to be fixed. We need to be allowed to scroll back and see all of our photos. Like we have been able to for YEARS.
- Glolynn724 years agoHelpful | Level 5I’m having this issue too and it had all of my grandkids’ newborn photos and I’m extremely upset right now. It says I have a 2T limit and only have used 32%of it
I pay 13.99 a month for this BECAUSE I lost photos in the past from computers dying or whatever. This is not acceptable for everyone’s photos to just disappear. - aa5924 years agoHelpful | Level 6Yes!!! This!!!! It’s not acceptable table for us to not be able to access our photos! When we pay to do so!
- Glolynn724 years agoHelpful | Level 5I found the photos looking in file and then going to phot uploads, so they are all still there I believe, BUT it takes forever to load them (my phone is new so it’s not a storage/memory issue from my phone) then when it finally loads a photo I THINK ‘Igor be what I’m looking for, it takes at lease 2 minutes for the photo to load, and then when I try to hit the back arrow, it takes about a minute to go back. That is if it doesn’t freeze up and I have to end up closing the Dropbox app and starting over. I have 132,000 images/videos dating back to 2014. Might have to try to see if I can transfer them all to Google photos or something. But that will take forever too.
Hope it gets resolved soon. Or I’m out too.
