Download fails at 315mb every time
I have uploaded 10 1GB files. When people (including me) try to download them they fail at 315mb, every time. Why is this happening?
- Hi all
Thanks for your patience on this. I have great news!
Our dev team has identified the issue and fixed it. The fix is now being rolled out.
Thanks again for reporting and being vigilants of our community :)
- ManMadeManHelpful | Level 6Same issue here, and many people I know have the same problem, one file download stalls at 315mb.

I am having the exact same issue. I am only attempting to download one .wav file at a time from a shared folder (just under 400MB), but when it reaches 315MB, it stalls. There is no error message. It simply ceases to download. I have plenty of room in my Dropbox folder, my harddrive, etc, etc.
I have been able to have the file sent to a shared Google Drive account and the download worked perfectly. So it isn't a corrupt file.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you
Austin

I am also having the exact same issue. All files larger than 315mb will stop downloading on 315mb exactly. Anything smaller will download and complete quickly.
I have checked my Internet connection which is working fine, I downloaded a 14gb from another website yesterday, and this issue is only happening with Dropbox. Please get this sorted ASAP! I have files I cannot access which are needed for a project due in on monday, and I literally paid a months subscription so I was able to download them!
Any help greatly appreciated.
- Petr_FalekHelpful | Level 6It is clear system error Dropbox. I am very surprised that it does not deal with the service provider and does not communicate with us. This is very incorrect.
Your files should also be on your computer.

Hello everyone,
I am trying to download some files from my dropbox & also ones shared with me from other peoples dropbox but for some reason it will only allow me to dl 330.2mb then it fails saying 'the operation ciuldn't be completed'?
All other download/transfer sites work fine but for some reason with dropbox it fails every time. I'm pulling my hair out here!!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Please can anyone explain why I cannot directly download a large file shared by a colleague.
It's very frustrating and extremely shortsighted by DB if they have created this limitation. Why not have a value added service of sharing files like WeTransfer as well as storage and sync-sharing. It seems very logical wouldn't you agree!- SanchezDropbox StaffHello,Thanks for posting in our forum! Are you still experiencing the problem? If so, can you give me a bit more detail on what exactly the situation is?What type of file is it?How large is the file, in MB or GB?Are you seeing any error messages when the download fails? Thanks

Its a 1.4 GB zip file and it stops at around 330MB with the message 'Cannot parse response'. Ive tried Safari and Firefox. I use a Mac pro. What does this mean?

Hi there,
Thanks for posting on Dropbox Forum!
It seems like you´re trying to download a large file. If you are trying to download it from dropbox.com, please note that it´s not possible to download an entire folder that´s over 1 GB.
If the folder is in your account you can use the Dropbox desktop application to download the file to your computer automatically. For more information ckeck out this Help Center article:
Hope this helps! Let us know if your download was successful.
Thanks,
Vivian

Hi,
I've got the same problem, a 622MB .numbers file, shared with two others.
We've been using it for many months, downloading it regularly with no problem. But now it won't download and I get msg "330.4MB of 621.2MB - cannot parse respo..."
Can you help?
Thanks,
Judi

The problem continues to this day, January 16, 2017, single files, over 315MB are stopped from being downloaded at that point, I see no one here replying with a solution. A note to Dropbox staff, if any are reading this, my business is being harmed tight now by this. Please fix this asap or I will immediatelyt go to another service.

Same for me....and I started this thread in December. It's a disgrace.
There is one way to complete the download though.
Use Mozilla and then when it fails hit 'retry' and it will pick up where it left off and complete the download.
Not very professional but it works.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
I´d like to ask, are you downloading these files from the Dropbox desktop application or from dropbox.com? Also, are you receiving any error messages?
In the event that you are trying to download all 10 files at once from the website, it will not succeed because currently it isn´t possible to download folders that contain more than 10,000 files or are larger than 1 GB via the web interface. If you are trying to download them one by one and the downloading gets stuck, could you try switching browsers and see if it works?
For more info on file sizes check out https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/5.
Otherwise, I'd suggest installing the Dropbox desktop application (http://www.dropbox.com/install) and then let the files sync on your computer.
Keep me posted! I´d love to know if your download was successful. :)
Thanks,
Vivian
- PatrickFHelpful | Level 5Hi Vivian,
Thanks for the response.
It is happening on multiple computers and multiple diffferent browsers from people trying to download around the world.
It is purely one file at a time not all at once.
And they each fail at 315mb, every time. Both through desktop and the app.
What could the reason be? This has caused so many issues!
Thanks,
Patrick- MarkSuper User IIHave you checked to see its uploaded fully?
The desktop app doesnt show when a file fails, so, if its downloading (and then showing) a 315mb file Dropbox believes that is the full file
- ManMadeManHelpful | Level 6This needs to be fixed. Any single file over 315MB is stalling, loads of people are reporting this issue.

I have the same problem.
Help Center does not solve the problem.
I have on my Dropbox stores a plurality of files size from 400 to 800 MB. The files have the download link.
These links are available to my colleagues.I must again draw attention to a major problem. Now you can not download large files. Downloading is aborted on the size of 315 megabytes error - network error. Please give a quick solution. Otherwise I'll have to leave Dropbox. Thank you very much. Petr Falek

Hi,
I have a WIN10 64bit, running DB 17.4.33. Since a couple of weeks I faced problems by downloading files via DB links send by colleagues. The download strarted but after a couple of minutes it stops and never start again. It hangs completly.
Do you have an idea why?
Regards,
Michael

Do you happen to know how much of the file has downloaded when it hangs? There's another issue posted on the forums with downloads stopping at a certain file size. If this is the same issue, I'll merge your post into that thread.
- KIPDNew member | Level 2
Of course I tried both of my problem download links. The first one stopped at about 50% and a file size from about 371MB the second one now proceed successfully.
BTW: The first one (50% and 350MB) shows me now an Error "Network-Error" but the second one is still downloading and finished the download later.
as I could remember, the second one (which now has downloaded probably), stopped at the same file size from about 371MB.

I'm a very longtime Dropbox user, and rarely have an issue. However, in the last few weeks, I've had some cleints of mine try to download some larger zip files (between 500MB and 2GB usually) who tell me that they are having issues downloading the files.
Sometimes there is a language barrier so it's hard to know for sure, but it sounds like the downloads never finish or time out.
Normally I would call this an end user problem related to their ISP but more and more clients are reporting this issue so I'm wondering if there is an issue on the Dropbox server side.
Any help would be appreciated.

There seems to be an issue with downloads stopping at about the 315MB mark. Does this seem about right for your clients? If so, I'll merge this thread into the larger one which discusses that issue.
- Justin P.2Collaborator | Level 10
Yes! One client specifically said it keeps stopping at 314MB. The weird thing is that it's not for all my cleints. Some are downloading larger files with no problems.
Unfortunately, I don't have the computer/browser specs of all my clients.
Let's hope it can be resolved soon.
Justin- ManMadeManHelpful | Level 6Can I just say again, this is an issue, dropbox know it's an issue. I have been talking to them via email and they commented on facebook. They have a link to this thread.. This is a paid service, and those of us that use dropbox for our business are suffering, 3 weeks on and still no official word. NOT ON!
Many people are having this issue, across browsers and computers, some files over 314mb stall, throw a network error message and never pick up again!
