xlsx files are supported but something went wrong.

Hello. My file is only 2.4 mb and this is the message I get everytime I try to open this one particular spreadsheet.   I have another spreadsheet that 2.6 and opens right away.. What advise could you give me?

Hi CM19, thanks for joining our Community and sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Which platform exactly are you trying to preview this file from?

If you're using our website, can you see if you get any different results after clearing your browser's cache or on another browser?

Feel free to send me a screenshot of the error message you receive on your end, in order for me to have visual.

    Let me know!

Hi angec4330, out of curiosity, have you tried downloading it locally? If you have, does it preview using a third party app?

Also, is this a file that you've uploaded or was it shared with you?

Yes I Can download locally, but then when I'm editing, won't others overwrite my information?   I am able to open in excel for the web .. but I don't have that option on my mobile devices that are accessing it.

    Hey angec4330! I hope you’re doing well.

Can you send me a screenshot of the options you see on your Dropbox mobile app, when trying to open this file? Are you able to preview it there, or do you get the exact same error message?

As per your first question, can you please clarify if you have the desktop app installed at the moment? If yes, you can try to edit this file directly via your local Dropbox folder, and then check if your updates sync to the website.

I am having the same problem. I have an .xlsx file that I accessed multiple times to edit over the past few weeks on excel for web through dropbox, on both Safari and Chrome. I have cleared the history and cache on both but get the same error on both.

    Hi hannahbrosky,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Is that error coming up both on computer and mobile device?

Good to see you already tested in multiple browsers, and clearing the cache.

Let me know if accessing via the Incognito Mode or Private Browsing modes in your browser helps.

    Thanks in advance!
