Don't see 'Sync now' option to prioritise which files sync first

URGENT help please!

Don't see 'sync now' option to prioritise which files sync first. (There's another conversation with the same title, but dicussions have been close, so can't commet there, had to open a new conversation).

I have Dropbox Plus.

Apparently, Microsoft has made a major change these days and now all my Dropbox files need to sync again. There thousands... I NEED to priorise which sync first in order to work with my teammates so they can receive the new files.

See screenshots below:

1st, from my hardrive, you see there's a 250709 file, the last one, which is not uploading:

2nd, from my dropbox account, can't see that file. I saved it yesterday to my hard drive:

3rd, from my hard drive, right clicked at the folder where the file is, dropbbox options DON´T show the Sync now:

4th, from my hard drive, right clicked at the file above the one I want synced, dropbbox options DO show the Sync now:

5th, from my hard drive, right clicked at the file that is not sycing, dropbbox options DON'T EVEN APPEAR:

Will appreaciate your help asap! :)

Hey any_, thanks for the added info!

Ideally, we'd suggest giving the application time to sync / index the files. If there's no progress being made through, please let us know.

Please keep in mind that your content should remain fully available and usable during indexing, and the Dropbox app should continue to operate as normal while it rebuilds its internal index.

Now, if a file or folder was in the process of syncing down to your device when the update took place, then we felt selective sync might be of help. How? By de-selecting any folders you don't need to access locally as we speak.

Though, once more, I'd recommend you allow the app to sync until it's "up to date".

On the other hand, if you want to upload files to your Dropbox account, so other people can access them, have you trying using the web?

    Hi Hannah,

Yes, that’s correct. A recent update on my Windows computer triggered the new version of Dropbox for Windows, which is now attempting to resync absolutely all of my files from scratch.

I actually tried using Selective Sync before reaching out here, but it made things worse. Since all my files are already stored on my hard drive, deselecting folders not only prevents them from syncing — it also removes them from my local drive. That ends up drastically increasing the number of files Dropbox needs to sync again.

So unfortunately, my only viable option is to use the Sync Now feature, or ideally, to find a way to prioritize some files or folders over others.

It’s already been two days of severely disrupted work!

Hey any_ , I hope it's okay to jump in here as well.

If I understand correctly, you've had an update on your Windows computer and your Dropbox app is updating to the new version of Dropbox for Windows as well, right?

If that's the case, then it would make sense why "Sync now" isn't available in the context menu.

Since I understand that you would like to prioritize specific content, although it's not what you've been looking for, it might be worth using our selective sync feature for the time being, through which you can choose which folders you would like to sync on your device.

Feel free to reach back out if you have any follow-up questions, and thank you for the time you've dedicated on this.

It's now indexing a whole lot more files... nothing I changed, all due to this Windows update and correspondent dropbox adjustment.

It's going to take forever. I need to prioritize what to sync first, I'm having a lot of difficulty working today!! 😥

    Hi Megan,

    Thanks for helping.

    Edition    Windows 11 Home
    Version    24H2
    Installed on    ‎17/‎12/‎2024
    OS build    26100.4652
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.128.0

I don't think the Sync now option has been there regularly. But maybe... Sorry for not being sure about this, I haven't needed it till now.

Hey any_, I'd be happy to help you with that!

As a first step, would you mind clarifying the exact OS version you're using?

Also, I'd like to know the Dropbox app's current syncing status, and version. You can find this by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon in your task bar, next to your WiFi.

One last thing: when was the last time you saw the "Sync now" option next to your content?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
