Problems syncing and getting Dropbox to recognize deleted files
I keep getting messages that my Dropbox account is over the 2 GB limit. I've removed several folders and file from Dropbox to my desktop to make room, but for some reason Dropbox hasn't recognized it. I also pulled the same files and folders from my local Dropbox folder and I can't get it to sync with the online version. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm using a MacBook Pro with a Firefox browser.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi vwagner
Is Dropbox running on your local machine if that is how you are emptying the folders? If so what does it say if you mouse over its icon on the status bar

I emptied folders and files both locally on my desktop and online. I got the same result. The system says I'm over the 2GB limit.

Checked your Backups page?

No, I didn't check the Backup Page. How do I do that?

You can click on the page Rich linked in his previous response or navigate manually by clicking on the upper right icon when navigating your Dropbox account on the website and selecting the Backup option vwagner

I went to the Backups page and there are no files there. I don't know what to do next.

Hey vwagner, would you mind sending us a couple of screenshots from both your Backup page online, and your plan page just to check what it reports?

Hi Megan,
Here are two screenshots. Backup.
Plan.

Thank you for the heads up vwagner!
When you visit your home page, do you see any content there, or is your account empty?
What about any shared folders that might be occupying space in your account?

I have a couple of shared folders, but nothing is showing up in the Backup page, even files and folders I haven't shared.
