Smart Sync - missing context menu *i sorted it out*

In the Dropbox app (Finder), right-clicking on folder to take 'online-only' should display the 'Smart Sync' option ... it does not.

What I have: MacOS 10.14.6 / Dropbox Plus

What I have tried:

* uninstalling/reinstalling the Dropbox app;

* checking the following in "Settings/General" from dropbox.com

--- Dropbox system extension in ON

--- Smart Sync update for Mac is ON

* all folders in Dropbox have green tick

* restarted computer several times

If Smart Sync doesn't work, I will leave Dropbox.

    Hi Alan_E, let's jump right into this!

    The first thing we need to check, is your app's syncing status. Can you check and let me know more?

    A screenshot of what you see when you right click on a file or folder would also be of great help, so I can have visual too.

    Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

    What did I do? I have tried to retrace my mouse-steps to no avail ... I simply cannot find the setting box which offered the link "enable Smart Sync" ... I wonder if this means I cannot 'disable' Smart Sync????

    I've been in the desktop app; the website; Help  ... sorry.

    This is the sort of developer rubbish that needs to be immortalized in the Worst Practice Hall of Fame.

    I'm not referring to that.

    The point is I went through every 'settings' and 'preferences' page I could find on both the desktop app and website trying to get Smart Sync going.

    Then I stumbled on a page with a hyperlink "enable Smart Sync" and that solved my initial problem.

    People wanted to know what I did but it was a few days ago ... I have tried to retrace my steps but cannot find that elusive link again.

    Hi everyone,

    I eventually pieced together what was going wrong, thanks to a pop-up message on my home iMac which is still running the slightly older iOS 12.2. My office iMac, which was the one having the troubles, is running the newes iOS 12.3.1. So, the pop-up message read " COMPATIBILITY WARNING Your version of Dropbox uses a legacy system extension that is not available in the latest versions of macOS. Contact developer for support". And there was the clue!!! I've used dropbox for 12 yrs, and hence my version of DB was not compatible with iOS 12.3.1. After the usual quite/uninstall process, I got given a link from DB support from where to download the "latest stable version" that ended up solving my problem. I could not tell for sure, but I assume it was a different link than the one that is on the DB online help section. Anyway, it worked! Lo and behold, all the options showed up in the right places for me to be able to select "online only", and I have tons of space on my hard-drive again. Not sure if the link will work, but this is it: https://www.dropbox.com/download
