Something went wrong error | Can't access shared folder via browser

I routinely access a shared Dropbox folder via browser to download documents. However, for the past couple of weeks, the folder almost never loads and I get an error message stating "something went wrong." Very occasionally, when I refresh or reopen the browser, the folder will load and I can download ~830 documents, but when I refresh again to download the next batch it goes back to not loading and giving me the error message.

Is anyone else experiencing this, and/or is there a fix to resolve this issue so I can access my files? The more time that passes, the farther behind I am in downloading the documents I need.

Thanks for posting this here, aklinger!

Out of curiosity, have you tried following the same steps via a different browser, or via an incognito window?

Does that seem to work better?

Let me know what you find.

    Hi Nancy,

Yes, the same thing happens whether I use Microsoft Edge or Chrome, and whether or not I use an incognito window. The issue may be specific to the folder I'm trying to access, as there is another shared folder I was able to access without a problem.

Thanks for clarifying that! Is this shared folder owned by you, or did another user share it with your Dropbox account?

If the latter, can you please ask them to remove you from it, and then re-share it with you?

I’d like to see if that’ll make a difference.

Just for reference, Edge and Chrome are both built on top of Chromium so a browser issue you experience in one of them will often (but not always) be experienced in the other as well. When troubleshooting, try Firefox or any other browser that's not Chromium based.
