My account keeps saying it's full - but it isn't
Hi - I have a 6.3 GB basic account with less that 1.2 GB of data in it, but I keep getting notifications saying the account is full, and it isn't syncing. I've double checked my folders and cleaned out all deleted items, but it makes no difference. I have been unable to contact any sort of support through the website, so am hoping someone might know how to fix this. Thanks.

HI dropbox team,
I was notified that I could not sync my computer data to dropbox. My storage capacity was filled.
I just bought a new iphone and did not take the time to decide which files and folders to save to my dropbox account.
I have now deselected the unnecessary ones to be auto saved by my iphone and deleted the unnecessary data currently stored in my dropbox account.
I am NOT interested in buying more storage space.
Please reset my account so i can stay on the free account.
I will NOT be buying more storage space.
Please take care of this asap as I am still bombarded by emails insisting I buy more storage space.
My account is under birth name [personal information removed per the Community's Guidelines]
thanks

Hi amberdeann
This is something you do yourself - just delete the files you do not want on Dropbox off the Dropbox website at www.dropbox.com/home
You have to do it yourself, nobody else can.
Note that if you are even 1kb over quota syncing will stop. So deleting 100,000 files wont matter if you are still over quota. Its all to do with size not quantity.

Also, check you've not accidentally activated Dropbox Backup: www.dropbox.com/backups.

reply to Mark super user 111,
Yes, I did activate backup for only for 2 small items.
Yes I did go into my dropbox account & deleted the unnecessary items. I should have lots of storage left.
I use very little.
So now will the auto billing kick in and stop the emails about upgrading. I don't need upgrading

Hi Mark,
I am unable to send you the latest error messages I am getting on the system since it will not accept word, or pages, or pdf. So I have to write out the error messages. this is so frustrating.
After deleting 4 major files, the system still says "Review Asap: Your dropbox has stopped syncing. You've reached the limits on your current plan. Resubscribe for up to 3 TB of space.
I have reduced my stored capacity on Dropbox and want to be returned to my free account.
Please take care of this.
I have wasted enough time trying to deal with this.

Hi Mark,
I did enable dropbox backup a few days ago. I don't know how to de activate backup.
I keep ending up on the dropbox backup screen which says it last backed up today at 11:14 1-31-23.
How do I de activate backup?

Hey amberdeann, if you want to disable the backup feature, you can follow the steps here.
If you have any backups taking up your Dropbox space, you should be able to find and delete them from this page.
But keep in mind, shared folders also take up space in your account, so if you have any, they might be what's taking you over your limit too.

Hi Hannah,
I've read the instructions you sent in the last email. I have uploaded a DROPBOX file storage app to my phone and my computer. I can't log in because the system will not accept my password - which I changed a day ago.
It is a laborious process to keep changing passwords to please the system and go thru all the security code stuff.
There are new items on my dropbox account that were auto saved there. I can't delete them. This is so frustrating.

Hi amberdeann, if you have access to the email address linked to your Dropbox account, you should be able to reset your password.
Did you manage to access the account? Also, could you send me a screenshot of your plan page, and what it reports?
Can you try to delete any folders within the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/backups/PC?

Hello,
I use basic dropbox, with 2.75 Gb, but for a few weeks it has been sending me alerts that the space is full or almost at the limit to upgrade. But this is not true my files did not exceed 600Mb
So delete all files, photos and shared folders and just go down to 2.5Gb
I did the verifications indicated in the chat, I don't have active Back up, but I'm still busy with my storage. (I've attached screenshots)
How can I solve this? Is there a way to reset my dropbox to 0Gb used?
Thank you for your replay.
