Suddenly used 1,100% of my allowed space
I have 16 gb of space earned by referrals. I had 7.6 gb of data stored. I kept receiving threatening messages I had suddenly used 1,100% of my allowed space. I repeatedly confirmed that I had on 7.6 gb stored. Dropbox suddenly denied me access to my data unless I upgraded to a larger storage plan. Can anyone help or explain what has happened and why
- YES… I found it. you are correct… operator error. All is well. Thanks to all of you shepherding this error and cleanup. So happy to have Dropbox functioning again. Thanks again

Have you looked to see if you accidentally set up Backups?
- wasting-time3 years agoHelpful | Level 6How do I see the folders and files that Dropbox says represents 1100% of my earned 16.2gb of space? I can’t cleanup the problem if I can’t see what Dropbox is causing the problem.
- wasting-time3 years agoHelpful | Level 6I see 172gb of “backups”… how do I delete these, whatever they are….

Hi from me, as well! If you've enabled computer backup and you select the option to return your folders back to their original locations ("Keep content in folders on this PC/Mac"), while disabling the feature, they should also be removed from your Dropbox account, thus freeing up your space.

Hi there wasting-time - sorry to jump in, but I just wanted to mention that you're looking at the website and not the desktop app.
In the desktop app, you'd be able to find the Backups and Sync tab in the app's preferences.

I tried to upload a jpg file - screen shot of my Dropbox screen. The repy would not send. My reply was “I cannot find a “backup tab” on the Dropbox page.
Any suggestions? - wasting-time3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Thanks for the help. Will try now.
