The total storage used doesn't match the size of files I see under the All files page.
I'm trying to get my storage down below the 2 GB limit, to go back to the free plan. I've made sure to delete all public files and other folders I wasn't using. I now have only one folder of photos listed under All Files, and the total size listed is 885.1 MB. When I go under the Subscription page, though, it says I'm using 2.2 GB. I initially deleted a huge file of photos, and the total storage number went way down, but now as I try to get it down more, it's like the 2.2 GB won't budge. I've spent hours and hours trying to reduce what I don't need, and I just need to get over the finish line!! It's just so frustrating. Why don't those two numbers match? I just spent over an hour troubleshooting with the Chatbot, with no clear answer...Please help! (Also, why can't I email someone, when it says that's included with my plan?? Infuriating.)

I'm having a similar problem. When I examine the DropBox folder contents in the Mac Finder or in the DropBox Web interface, I see less than 5 GB of files, but DropBox displays a warning that I've used up my available space. However, that warning message shows me 10.0 of 11.2 GB used. It looks like there's a >6 GB invisible file, but when I display invisible files in the Finder, there are none. I don't see any way to show invisible files in the Web interface. I have only one shared folder, and it's only about 25 MB.

Hey geoffhart1962, I'd be happy to investigate further.
Can you kindly check your account's plan page, and let me know what it reports? If you can send a screenshot too, that'd be welcome.
It should specify what's taking up your Dropbox quota. Could it be that you have any active Backups?
Lastly, have you tried accessing your home page online, in order to calculate the files and folders you see there?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

I don't see a "plan" page, but here is what I see for file usage:

Here's what I see in my Mac's "get info" window for the DropBox folder:

No backups active.

Hey geoffhart1962, thanks for the added info!
Based on the screenshot it looks like the 10GB taking space on the account is individual files and folders. Keep in mind that you should be able to view what's taking up space when visiting your home page.
I'm suggesting that you check online for the content taking up space, since calculating using your local Dropbox folder isn't necessarily accurate. That is because some of your folders might be selectively synced, or some of your content might be available as online-only.

Apologies for the delayed reply... travel, then home to a work crunch. I have logged into DropBox via my Web browser and selected "All Files". There doesn't seem to be any way to display a total for all the files in "All Files"; I can only display the sizes one file at a time. That being said, a rough estimate of the folder contents suggests that the information that DropBox displays doesn't come close to 10 Gig. That suggests there's an invisible file somewhere. How can I see it?

Hey geoffhart1962!
It looks like other than your regular files you also have some shared content in your account.
Have you tried Helen's steps as shown here?
