Bug - "unable to sync" a file that is in an ignored folder.
I have a folder that is set to ignore such as here: https://help.dropbox.com/sync/ignored-files
The folder properly does not sync and does not show up on my dropbox web or on any other synced devices.
However, there is a file in that ignored folder that continuously throws an "unable to sync" error from my desktop app.

Hey there, WreckItTim1, happy May 1st!
Interesting. Would you mind clarifying the version of the Dropbox app that you use on your end?
You should be able to find this, by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi on your menu/task bar.
If you could also send me a screenshot of the error message you get on the app, that'd be amazing.
Let me know of any updates!

Thanks for the quick response! Ya here is some more info:
Dropbox version: 197.4.7629
Windows 10 Pro version: 10.0.19045 Build 19045
the file that cant sync is in an autogenerated folder from using Microsoft Visual Studio and is located in my Dropbox folder > .vs > project folder > FileContentIndex > file.vsidx
Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2022 (64-bit) version: 17.8.5
Below are screen shots of the error - Jay2 years ago

HI WreckItTim1, could you try marking that file with the ignored tag to see if this helps?
- WreckItTim12 years agoHelpful | Level 7
It is an autogenerated file from visual studio created whenever its used, with a random hash name, so that is not a valid solution. Which is why I made the parent folder an ignore, so that anything which gets dynamically added into that folder should also be ignored.

Hi
I got the exact same problem. I ignored every folder from ".vs" and down. Any newly created files will still end in deadlock as Dropbox insist on syncing them. This again usually ends in that I have to set Dropbox on sync to be able to work normally. Its not a good solution. An ignored folder should stay ignored.Dropbox version: 299.4.7134.
OS: Latest Windows 11.
VS: Latest 2022.
This is not something that started now, but I am finally getting tired of workaround so I tried to ignore folders and was rather surprised it was not working. I will try to reconfigure VS, but it should still not be like this.

Hi Aslak, could you confirm the version number for the desktop app that you're using, since I think the number is too high?
There is a newer version out now, could you try upgrading to that one?

Sorry. Typo. Its v200.4.7134
I will upgrade to 201.4.5552 that seems to be the latest version.

When I try do download I get the message that the "file was not available on the server"
If I try to use the standard installer I get more or less the same problem. "Validation of the downloaded file failed."

Could you try downloading the installation file with another browser?
Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?
