  • Hello Everybody,

For any users running Windows 7 without Service Pack 1, Beta Release 171.3.6071 should get your Desktop app working again. Please let us know if you experience any issues after installing the beta release and I can pass that information on.

    Best,

    Ben

I’m sorry to hear you’re having this issue, ghayas91

Is it safe to assume that you don’t have any connectivity issues when it comes to other apps on your computer?

Also, is it possible to send me a screenshot of the error message that you mention, so that I can have a visual?

Let me know when you’re ready!

Hi NIMEN and mgborracer! I hope you’re both doing well and thanks for the screenshot.

Can you please clarify what’s the OS version of your computers?

I have found that the problem occurs on my Win 7 64bit machine without Service Pack. On another computer, Win 7 64bit with SP1, the Dropbox works, even with the newest version.

Thank you Mulder8387, this appears to be the solution. I had a Win7 system without the service pack, and I installed Windows 7 SP1 and dropbox is now working/connecting/syncing.

Here is the link to the microsoft page where you can get the service pack...

This was all mildly traumatic and very little help from dropbox support themselves, kind of disappointing. Dropbox is the main way I sync between my main/modern PC and my older win7 PC. It's all working fine and I see no reason to change things. From this it's likely that one day a future update will without warning remove win7 support entirely, and we'll be left out in the cold. I will keep this in mind next time I have to renew my pro dropbox account.

    Hi,

Mt Dropbox app has stopped syncing since last 8 days.... I have deleted & reinstalled many times, it says "this computer is not connected to the internet", however the internet is working just fine.

  • Hi all!

I have been using Dropbox for a long time and installed it on multiple devices. On the last several days, I noticed Dropbox on my Window 07 computer stopped working. Upon clicking on the Dropbox icon, it kept running the Icon Animation "Starting" and refused to connect/start the app. I have tried quitting the app, restarting, disabling Firewall and all but had no success.

I then uninstalled and tried to reinstall the Dropbox app. However, though the app is installed (as I c, Ian see it in my Control Panel), it showed the message "Your computer is not connected to Internet..." and did not pop-up any following message. I have checked my Internet and found that I could log in to the website version of Dropbox just fine, along with the other websites. Wondering if it's my house' Internet problem, I brought my Laptop to some cafe shops but the same problem persisted. Upon checking the Forum, I have also tried the stable build installer. This installer pop-up the same message (computer not connected to Internet) without installing the app.

Without any solution, I would like to ask your assistance, as to what should I do to solve the problem. If you have any idea of what the problem is, or what I should do to improve the situation, I would really appreciate it. 😓

Hey ATC International, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

You mentioned that you tried installing the newest stable version of the app, which didn't work.

Can you also try the offline installer, to see if that helps?

Make sure to also check Ben's reply here.

Let me know and we'll go from there.

Hi Hannah! Thanks for your swift reply. I have tried the Offline Installer, but it displayed the same error message (Your computer is not connected to the Internet, please check etc.).

Thanks to your recommendation, I have checked Ben's reply on the thread about Dropbox on Window 7, which doesn't seem to have a concrete solution there. Is SP1 he mentioned on his comment is necessary to fix this bug? As I'm clueless about SP1, if so, do you have any clue as to how to install it?

Uso windows 7.  Che posso fare?

Hi Paola_b, sorry to hear about this.

May I ask if you've installed the Windows 7 security update KB3033929 on your computer? It's needed for the Dropbox desktop app to work properly, that's why I'm asking.

Let me know when you get the chance!

      ---
