Dropbox doesn't open on my Windows 10 device.

I am a long term Dropbox user, having been using it for years on many different platforms including Samsung tablets and phone. Starting around a year ago I noticed I could not "open" it on my Dell Win10 desktops, I have to go on line to my account and open it. Something seems to have changed as this is the case from two different locations. I have tried uninstalling and re installing several times.

Can anyone shed any light on what may be the issue?

Fred

How are you trying to open it and what, exactly, are you trying to get to?

Is the Dropbox icon visible in your system tray? If so, hover over it and check its status and version. Does it say Up to date? Also, what happens when you click it? Are you able to navigate to your Dropbox folder in Explorer, and can you see your files there?

If it's not visible, have you tried to launch it from your Start menu?

Thanks for the reply but I don't understand your question "How are you trying to open it and what, exactly, are you trying to get to?

I am simply trying to open Dropbox by clicking on the Dropbox icon, have tried the one that appears in the tool bar and the one on the start screen as well as the short cut icon on the window desk top screen. The same result on all of them, it appears as if its searching and going to open but it never does. I see the program in "program files" but can,t get it to open. I need to go to drop box web site in order to open it.

Hey there, Radiowaves, I hope you're doig well!

I'm assuming that you have an issue when it comes to opening your desktop app, using your Windows 10 device.

I would like for you to locate your Dropbox icon. It would be on your task bar, next to your WiFi and date and time icon. Once you do this, could you hover your mouse there and let me know what the status and the version of the Dropbox Desktop application is?

    Let me know more!

That's the wrong icon. When Dropbox is running there will be a smaller icon in your system tray. This is the area immediately next to the date and time, and where you would find the other system icons for your network connection, sound, Windows Security, etc.

You don't appear to have any icons visible in that area, which is strange. It makes me wonder if you've disabled the display of all system icons in Windows Settings.

Hi Radiowaves, is it possible that you've hidden the Dropbox icon from the taskbar?

Press and hold or right-click any empty space on the taskbar and select Taskbar settings. Under Taskbar corner icons make sure Dropbox is turned to "On".

If Dropbox is already enabled, is it possible that the app isn't currently running
