Dropbox freezes and crashes when I navigate in my Dropbox folder within File explorer.
Hello,
I am having trouble with dropbox working through my Windows file explorer. For some reason, within the last week every time I try to navigate to one of my dropbox files the file explorer crashes and I have to force close the program. I can open files from the specific application. For instance, if I open Word and then open a file from word it will open, but if I try to open the same file from the windows file explorer it freezes. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall. Any other suggestions/solutions?

I'm still having the same issues. I cannot open any files through windows explorer, because it freezes (endless loading) as soon as I click on a folder or file.

Hey @FLSunshine, thanks for posting here!
When did this start happening exactly?
Would you mind clarifying your exact OS and the version of the Dropbox app you have installed on the device, please?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

This has been ongoing for a very long time. As a matter of fact, I thought it was my hard drive, so i replaced that, still happening.
Windows 10 Pro

Thanks,

Hey @FLSunshine, thanks for the info!
Do you notice this behavior only within your Dropbox folder? Also, what exactly happens and is your issue the same as the OP?
It'd help me to also have an idea of how many files you have locally within your Dropbox folder. Feel free to send me a screenshot of the folder's properties, in order for me to have a visual.

I too was having this issue. The issue stopped as soon as I uninstalled the iCloud app downloaded from the Microsoft Store in Windows 10.
This just started recently, as I used to run both side-by-side without issues for years. Any idea on what could be causing it?

Hey @mo34, thanks for posting here!
Based on everything you described, it sounds like it might be iCloud that's causing it.
Generally we don't suggest that you use two cloud providers on the same path, as it may cause issues such as the one you mentioned.
And since you identified that the issue resolved after uninstalling iCloud, then I tend to believe that was the culprit there.
I hope this helps!
