Dropbox Issues since Windows 11 Update

Hello, I've recently noticed issues with Dropbox,

I can only assume this is since the Windows 11 update to my laptop.

1. Dropbox app won't open. (No issues with firewalls, have uninstalled, advanced reinstall and even reset my entire laptop). The app not working means I can't back up my laptop...

2. During installation, there is no longer the option to add online-only files to my laptop and download them at will. It will only allow my to download the entire Dropbox or select certain files. Dropbox is my laptop storage system so it's not feasible to only allow certain files. Seems crazy 😞

3. During one time of installing, I had the option to change where Dropbox is stored, except it wouldn't pick up the D drive on my laptop - I know it's fine as I store Adobe programs here

Unless I can fix this...there is no point having Dropbox!

Any help much appreciated

Thanks so much.

Hey megan98, sorry to hear you’re having issues with this.

When saying that your Dropbox app doesn’t open, can you clarify what you see exactly on your end? Is the Dropbox icon missing from your system tray, or is something else going on? Don’t hesitate to send me a screenshot, too.

As for your second point, are you seeing the option to selectively sync your folders perhaps? Can you upload a screenshot of what you’re seeing there, as well?

Finally, did you unplug - replug your D drive to your device, and Dropbox still doesn’t pick it up?

Ping me, when you’ve got more info.

    Hi Nancy,

    Thanks so much for replying,

    1. So it's installed, but when I try to launch it, I get a loading icon near the mouse for a couple of seconds and then it stops and nothing happens.

Similarly, when I installed it and the time the menu come up offering advanced settings, this disappeared after 30 seconds and wouldn't reopen.

I'm afraid there's nothing to screenshot to help you as nothing at all happens now

    2. It only gives me the option to download everything or download specific files. Last time I installed it, I could add everything 'online-only' so that I could access my entire Dropbox through file explorer. Then download image by image or document by document as needed.

    3. Sorry I should've been more specific, D drive is installed on my laptop and is non-removable.

    Hope that helps?

Sorry to jump in here, megan98!

Can you please let us know if you have the small Dropbox icon in your system tray?

If you do, what's the sync status of the app when you hover over it with your mouse?

    Hello!

    Thanks for the response!

So I've just reinstalled to check this and it actually seems like it's working,

The only thing is, it's only synching half folders.

    E.g.

    On desktop, it's showing files 1, 3, 4, 5.

Online, files 1-10 are all there and visible...?

Thanks for the update, Megan! I'm happy to know that it's working.

Regarding the files that haven't synced, is it possible that their names contain incompatible characters that might be stopping them from syncing?
