Dropbox update android
Dropbox will not allow files to be opened, says needs update. Cannot see how to update the app.
You should be able to find the relevant option in the app's settings
On your Android device, follow these steps:
1. Tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
2. Select "Settings"
3. Select “Clear Cache”Once this is done then please ensure you log out of the Dropbox application, then restart your device and log back in again.

- rrierson3 years agoExplorer | Level 4I have used Dropbox with Excel for many years now but starting today when I try to open an excel spreadsheet through Dropbox (this is on my phone. Samsung Galaxy S22) I get a message saying the following:
Dropbox Update Required
To open this file, please update your Dropbox app.
It has been updated. I have reinstalled the app and I'm still getting the same problem. If I open excel and navigate to my Dropbox file I am able to open and edit the file this way but I would prefer my original way of doing it if I could be guided to a fix. Thank you in advance. - st8888883 years agoHelpful | Level 5same here. anyone who why?

S-Etherea, can you let me know what’s the app version of the Dropbox app running on your mobile device?
Besides stephenbigcuddles, are you all having this issue with both Word and Excel files on your Dropbox account or just with one of the two?

Dropbox 326.2.4, issues with both word and excel.

Thanks for the updates stephenbigcuddles, and hi rrierson and st888888!
Can you please try to clear your Dropbox app’s cache and reinstall it on your devices? Are you seeing any difference after that?
- rrierson3 years agoExplorer | Level 4I cleared cache, data and reinstalled and it is now working. Thank you!

I have version 326.2.4 Dropbox app on my android phone. All of a sudden, every time I want to open something from the Dropbox app into Word, I get a message that I need to update the Dropbox app. I still have plenty of space in my free account, and don't want to upgrade. I do not see anywhere to UPDATE (not upgrade) the app. Can someone help?

Hey there Luckystar1952 , thanks for flagging this with us.
Could you please clear the app's cache and let us know if this persists?
If it does, I'd appreciate a screenshot too.
- hmafooz3 years agoExplorer | Level 3Clearing Dropbox app data and cache helped solve it for me too. I had thought uninstalling and installing would have solved but it didn't work, but clearing data did
