Finder and Dropbox desktop app not showing file preview
Hey guys,
I just recently switched from Google Drive to Dropbox for Business. Finder on Mac OS 10.14 Mojave and the new dropbox desktop app won’t show file previews of my files, just the Apple default preview logo.
However on the iOS app and on the web file previews show.
This is a big deal for me because google drive offers this. My team has to have this or we won’t continue to use Dropbox.
If anyone has any solutions please advise.
I tried closing and opening the app and force quitting using activity monitor.
Best
Derek

Hi there DerekKelly,
As a first step, could you please check if you have the latest stable version of the desktop app (79.4.143) by hovering over the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock?
If you do, could you please send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of how the files appear in your Finder and desktop app?
Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for confirming that for me, DerekKelly.
Could you try relaunching Finder by following the steps below?
- Click on the Dropbox icon from your Desktop and quit the application.
- Open your Activity Monitor from your Mac Utilities folder.
- Force quit out of the instances of the Dropbox app that are running by searching for "Dropbox" in the search bar, then clicking on the "x" force quit icon on the top left.
- Re-start Dropbox from the apps folder by double clicking on the Dropbox app.
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left of your screen.
- Click on "force quit".
- Relaunch the finder.
Once you do this, please reboot your device - maybe that will do the trick.
Let me know of any updates!

Hi DerekKelly,
Why you use early release? Try turn off "Early Releases" from here and install stable one locally.
Hope this helps.
- DerekKelly7 years agoHelpful | Level 6Okay I turned off early release. How do I downgrade from 80 to 79 or whatever the most stable version is?
- Здравко7 years agoLegendary | Level 20Take a look on first Lusil's post above 😉

- Здравко7 years agoLegendary | Level 20Do you use "Smart Sync"? And if so, is there some relationship to the online status set?

I do and all folders are set to online only.
