Finder right-click menu missing for Personal Dropbox (Business account works)
Hi,
I have both a Personal and Business Dropbox account linked on my Mac (same Dropbox app). The Finder right-click menu (Sync, Share, etc.) only appears for my Business account, not for my Personal one.
Details:
- Both accounts are syncing locally (not using Backups or external drives).
- Under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Extensions → Finder Extensions, there’s only one Dropbox entry, and it’s enabled.
- Dropbox has Full Disk Access.
- This is a clean install of Dropbox, not an upgrade.
- Relaunching Finder and Dropbox hasn’t fixed it.
The Business Dropbox works perfectly with Finder, but the Personal folder has no context menu at all.
Has anyone run into this or found a fix?

Hi there, elvinvandalen let's see what we can find about this!
As a first step, can you clarify the exact OS version that you use on your Mac?
While we're at it, can you also share with me the app's current syncing status, and version while using your personal account? You can find this by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon in your menu bar, next to your WiFi.
I'd also appreciate a screenshot of what you see when right clicking on a file or folder while using your personal account. You can attach it back to me by pasting it in this chat box.
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Hey elvinvandalen, thanks for the screenshot!
Could you please let us know the path of your Dropbox folder for your personal account?
While you're at it, can you also try to follow these steps in order to resolve this issue? If you have any questions let me know.

I think here lies the clue, the path to my personal Dropbox folder:
Macintosh HD / Users / Dropbox (Personal)
Is it possible to avoid reinstalling? I have two Dropbox with a huge amount of files, it took me days to sync (even with selective sync). - Nancy5 months ago

Hi from me too, elvinvandalen! Can you also clarify the filepath to your team Dropbox folder?
Other than that, I can see that your Dropbox app is currently in the process of syncing a large amount of files, which could affect the options you see when right-clicking on your Dropbox files.
Is the app still trying to sync all these files, or has it made progress since you last posted your screenshot?

Hi Nancy,
It is currently synced. However I still can't see the righ-click menu.

Thanks for that, elvinvandalen! The different filepath you see here may be part of the issue indeed.
In the meantime, I also had a quick look into our system and I can see you already have a support ticket with our advanced team. I’ve gone ahead and left them an internal note on your behalf, so please keep an eye out for their reply; they’ll check your Dropbox account and further help in the same email thread.

Thank you so much for your help with this. I was hoping for a quick resolution, as my Dropbox is currently unusable and I’m unable to sync any files. I really appreciate your time and effort in looking into this, even though it seems to be a bit more complex than I initially thought.

This is still not solved and my request seems to suddenly be deleted.
