I can't reinstall Dropbox on my laptop - after a point the installation process just stops
I uninstalled the Dropbox app from my laptop as its file structure would not sync with the web version.
When I reinstalled it, it had retained the old incorrect file structure; I uninstalled it again using this article (which I may have misunderstood as I am not technically minded)
How to run an advanced reinstall of Dropbox on your computer
Now it won't reinstall at all - I run the installer, it says "on your marks" and nothing happens.
I'm now unable to access files on my laptop which was the whole point of buying a subscription!
I do have Google Drive although rarely used.
In the end I solved the problem by running a System Restore in Windows to the day before I had uninstalled Dropbox. This restored the app and it was perfectly synced.

Hi tcstts, thanks for providing these details.
Could you let me know more about where you're seeing this message in the Dropbox desktop application?
If you can, could you copy and paste a screenshot in your next reply to see this message?
This will help me to assist further!

Here's what happens when I try to reinstall using the installer.
I never get to the stage of seeing the app itself - it simply gives up at this point of the installation process.
Thanks for your help!

Could you try downloading the Windows offline installer from this page and see if that helps?

Thanks - I've given this a try but it came up with the same "on your marks" message and then quit!

Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?

I use Bitdefender, but I've never changed any of the settings, and it installed fine the first time when I had the same setup.

Could you try temporarily disabling BitDefender and then reinstall the Dropbox desktop application to see if this helps?

I've given this a go, both with the offline and online installers. Unfortunately both failed in exactly the same way as the previous attempts.

Same issue. The "On your marks" Window looks like a Google pop up, strangely. It's the same one that appears when you install Google Chrome.
Do you have Google Drive installed perchance?
Thx,
Harald
