Indexing stand off with Windows!
My Dropbox seems to be in a fight with Windows Search indexer! Dropbox indexes... when it finishes, windows will start... then Dropbox indexes again! And so on and son on... been happening for a couple of weeks now, and its slowing down my machine and making file explorer hard to use. Turning off windows indexer seems to cause other issue with searching on the laptop... and I cant stop DB from indexing! Has anyone had, and fixed, this issue?

Hey foxmanchester, sorry to jump in and thanks for the additional information.
May I ask if you see any content within your Dropbox folder with the blue syncing icon when the app is indexing?
Could you also send us a screenshot of the app's exact status and version as shown in your system tray?
Do you happen to be running any 3rd party apps that might be interfering on your computer?
Let us know what you find!

Hi Walter
I cant take a screenshot of the system tray icon, as the info wont come up after I go into screenshot mode, but it says its indexing X number of files (decreases with time) and that its uploading some too (this seems to be the same files I think). Yes blue syncing icons all over file explorer. Version 172.4.7555. I dont know if anything is interfering with Dropbox, thats why I am here. All I know is what Ive said above. Thanks

Hey foxmanchester! Hope you don’t mind me jump in.
If you open your Task Manager, do you see any other third-party apps running at the same time as Dropbox?
If yes, can you please close them and let me know if the issue continues after that or if you see any difference?

What are third party apps please? There is nothing new on the machine since I upgraded to Dropbox Professional. What apps do you know to be conflicting with Dropbox Professional please? It might be easier to work from your known app issues, first. I suspect I may have a lot of apps that are third party, all of which have worked fine with Dropbox Basic

We're not aware of any specific apps that are in conflict with the Dropbox desktop app at the moment foxmanchester - have you tried turning them off one by one to see if any of them is causing issues?
