OP here. No, it hasn't been solved, but I will post here if a solution ever comes up.
I wouldn't waste your time with a support ticket. After having me jump through some hoops (confirming my email, recording a screen capture, giving system details), they just copy-pasted something unhelpful from their knowledge base and then marked the ticket "Solved."

Not just me then. I couldn't work out my some past projects appeared and others didn't but yes 100% consistent with them being in Dropbox. Awaiting resolution when it comes...
