Won't stop indexing on Mac
I installed the mac dropbox update and the application began indexing my files. It has now been stuck for the last few days. I can only access some files. Many are now only available through dropbox....

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your patience while we investigated. We have confirmed that the problem with resyncing has been resolved with macOS Sonoma 14.1. Users should not experience a resync when upgrading to 14.1.
Upgrading to 14.1 will prevent resyncing, but it will not resolve this issue for users who have already become 'stuck' on the resync upon upgrading to 14.0. We can help, but we're asking that users contact support for individual assistance.
Regards,
Ben

3 years agoThanks, it looks like you're running the newer version of the Dropbox desktop application.
How many files do you have in your Dropbox account and how many are in your Dropbox folder?

Jay exact same issue here. Upgraded to Sonoma about 24h ago, immediately after the upgrade it was indexing all files (~280.000 in my case). I let this run overnight to finish, but so far the whole day it's been stuck on indexing without showing any further info.
Running on v183.4.7058 (files in cloudstorage) with Dropbox Advanced plan (which unfortunately is getting capped..)

I have had the same problem for 2 weeks now. I did a clean install to Sonoma on a MacBook 16" (M1 Max) and a MacBook Air 13" (M2). Downloaded the latest version of DropBox and .... "Indexing".
I have been monitoring this forum and tried all troubleshooting tips mentioned, many several times. Nothing works and I consider myself having more advanced IT ability.
I see the notice to upgrade to File Provider as DropBox recommends, however, this is not possible as it is still "Indexing".
I have been using Dropbox since 2010. Rarely had any problems. But this is a significant problem. Made worse by the lack of effort being made by DropBox to offer a solution to the problem.
