Adding a clarifying video to an uploaded file

Adding a clarifying video to an uploaded file

Few weeks ago I uploaded a questionnaire in my dropbox account.

As I did that, a small icon appeared at the bottom left, a circle with a man in it (sorry, I know it sounds silly).
The man was saying: "Add a clarifying video to your document". So I now would like to do that but I really do not know how as the man does not pop up anymore.

The questionnaire is intended for my clients, so I would really appreciate to add a 30 seconds video to greet them and explain what the questionnaire is about.

I checked dropbox capture, but I am not sure it is what I need as I am not adding a screenshot, rather a document. Actually the document is already there....

Can anyone help?

I would really appreciate it.

Regards,

Valeria

Hi @Valeria P.6, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you clarify how you were uploading your document to the site? What document type were you creating?

Were you originally using Dropbox Capture to begin with?

This will help me to assist further!

the file is a pdf.

Is it possible you were using Dropbox DocSend, which has a similar feature?

I don't think so. I really just opened my account in my browser and replaced the old questionnaire with a new one. Deleted the old, uploaded the new one.

Also, as far as I remember, everytime I opened again the folder the circle with teh man appeared.

I would actually really like to add a video of myself explaining a couple of things about the questionnaire. Is it possible in any way?

Since it was a PDF file, are you simply able to add the video yourself into the file?

Was the prompt you saw from Dropbox, or the app used to create the PDF?

The prompt was definitely from Dropbox.

I don't see the point in addind a video to the pdf?

Since my clients need to download it, it would become way too large.

The idea was, that when they see the preview in dropbox, in dropbox itself the icon would open bottom left and I would explain a couple of thing.

The video was from one of your employees.

Hi @Valeria P.6, Dropbox Capture does also have a screen recording feature. You can learn more about that here. The feature will allow you to record your screen as you talk and walk through the questionnaire you are sending to your clients. You even have the ability to include your face to accompany the screen recording to make it more personal, which appears as a small circle in the corner of the recording.

Once you record the capture, you can share the capture link along with the questionnaire.

Hi @Valeria P.6!

"The man" in the bottom left was indeed part of a Dropbox preview feature we have been experimenting with, it has been available to a subset of Dropbox users, but if you were able to access it previously you should still have access to it now.  If "the man" isn't appearing anymore when you open the preview of your pdf, can you please check if there is a "Record Video" button at the top, above the preview itself?  It should be roughly in the middle of the screen at the top, and that would trigger the same functionality that allows you to record a voice-over and have it attached to the Dropbox file.

Hi Mike!

Thank you very much fpr your reply!

I could not find any "record video" button, have been looking around for it!

I would like to send you a scrennshot but I am not able to do it here...

Would it be possible for you to somehow make the functionality availabe for me again?

I would really appreciate it!

Valeria
