Dropbox Folder Items NOT showing up on my computer

Dropbox Folder Items NOT showing up on my computer

I've been a DROPBOX user for over 10 years and love all the features.  Recently, I have been having a problem , which I believe is syncing with my computer.

This seems to happen only with photos.  I have a folder in DROPBOX called CAMERA UPLOADS.  I have the same folder on my computer.   Normally,  when I take photos with my IPHONE, I then UPLOAD those photos to the DROPBOX CAMERA UPLOADS.   I've been doing that for years without any problems.   Now, I see the files on my IPHONE under the DROPBOX CAMERA UPLOADS directory.

In the past, once I've done that on my phone, its a matter of a couple of minutes before that file appears in the folder on my Computer.  I remember seeing

messages that files have been added to my computer, but I am not seeing that any more.

I am not sure if this is a sharing problem, syncing, or what?  I have the latest level of DROPBOX on both my COMPUTER(s) and IPHONE

That was the problem.  The Computer application was not starting.  I checked my startup options and DROPBOX was turned off.   Not sure why.

So, once I started it, it took DROPBOX about 2 hours to sync everything.  So, now I am back to normal.

Thank you for your help!

Hi @Ron D.7, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Just for clarification, are you not seeing the notification for the files being added to your machine, or are they not in the camera uploads folder?

What is the current status of the Dropbox desktop application when you hover over the icon in the system tray/menu bar?

This will help me to assist further!

I am not seeing the files in the folder (Camera Uploads) on the Computer, nor do I see the message that files are being added to Dropbox.  I used to always see those messages.

In fact now, I no longer see the Dropbox icon in the system tray area. It always used to be there. I am on Windows 10 but honestly I cant say if the Dropbox system tray icon was there.  I upgraded from Window 7 to Windows 10 about 2 months ago.

Using settings, I cant seem to get the Dropbox icon back into the system tray area.

The photo I uploaded, I can see in the Web interface for Dropbox, it shows on my IPHONE, but the Camera Uploads folder on my computer does not have any files.

Hey @Ron D.7, sorry to jump in here.

I just wanted to mention that it sounds like the desktop app might not be running on your computer. This would also explain why your camera uploads haven't synced to your computer's Dropbox folder.

Can you try (re)launching it and let us know how it goes?

If you can't find it on your computer, you can try re-installing as well.

In any case,  please keep us posted, Ron.
