When I use the Files app on iOS, the files are converted to an unknown file.

When I use the Files app on iOS, the files are converted to an unknown file.

Good morning. When I upload a folder from the file app (iOS) to dropbox, it converts it to an unknown format that cannot be opened (regardless of the contents of the folder). Can you help me? Thank you

Hi @Sasamen81,

Good news! Our engineering team has investigating this issue, and we will be implementing a fix in a mobile release in the near future. While I can't give an exact timeline, I can update this thread when the new version is released.

Regards,

Ben

Hi @Sasamen81, welcome to our Community!

Do you notice the same behavior, when you try to upload a single file from the Files app on your iOS, to Dropbox? Is the file converted too?

Also, do you get any specific error during the uploading process, or is the process successful?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Thanks for the reply. No errors when loading the folder. With any type of file (.pdf-.jpg…) I have no problems. I only see the problem when I load a folder (both empty and containing other subfolders or files)

Hi @Sasamen81! I hope you don’t mind me jumping in.

Can you send me a screenshot of how your folders show after you’ve uploaded them to Dropbox via your Files app?

Does the same thing happen if you upload a folder directly via the Dropbox mobile app?

Hi @Sasamen81, for security reasons we're not allowed to open any links.

Do you think you can attach your screenshot here, by clicking the camera-like icon, when you try to respond back to me?

Have you tried to create a folder in the Dropbox app, by clicking on the + icon, then create folder, and upload your content in there?

Can you please clarify what’s the app version of your Dropbox app?

Also, did you start having this issue after an update or did it occur randomly?

The dropbox app version is 318.2.2; the iOS version is 16.3.1 (same problem with iPad). Same problem I have been experiencing this problem for several months

Just to clarify, do you see this error when you try to create a folder, or when you're previewing it too @Sasamen81

Also, is the folder created in the account or not?
