Recent Excel and Word Docs not appearing under Recent Tab

Recent Excel and Word Docs not appearing under Recent Tab

I did not install anything new and my computer just snoozed overnight and all a sudden this morning NONE of my pinned Dropbox files are appearing under Excel or Word. I reset the apps, reset the computer and still no luck. I cleared the jump list and that didn't fix anything. I browsed other threads and can't figure it out. I open up the excel file I want to Pin. Right click and say PIN TO RECENT LIST and it still doesn't appear there.  The only files that appear are old files saved in my Documents folder. I even made sure that the Preferences shows recent files is checked and shows the last 50 files. No luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dropbox Support actually got back to me and asked me to "QUIT" Dropbox's application that was running.

1. Click the Dropbox icon in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac/Linux)
2. Click on your profile picture or initials to the right of the search bar and select "Quit Dropbox"

Then after I did that, then I tried pinning the items to the Recent tab. Once I did that, the files started to Pin. I restarted the application after I pinned a couple and everything seems to be working again!

Hey @LBrown421, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Are you using the Dropbox desktop app or the Dropbox Lite (for S Mode)?

What's your computer's OS and version?

And can you also send us a screenshot of your full screen, so we can have a better visual of where the issue comes from, etc.?

Just make sure you hide any personal info, like you did the screenshot above.

Thanks!

Hi Hannah! I'm using the Dropbox Desktop App. My computer info I've attached a picture below. I've also included a full screenshot of Excel. I use Excel docs all day long and now have to manually go into each file since Word and Excel now won't let me pin to recent anything. The files don't even populate or appear under recent even after I open and work on a workbook in Excel. Also I've included a screenshot of my recent settings in Excel.

Hey @LBrown421, thanks for the added info!

I'm not entirely sure this has to do with us, I have to admit.

It sounds like something that Microsoft would need to help you with, mainly because we don't have any relevant info, or a path to follow when it comes to the Word, or Excel apps.

Does this only happen with Dropbox files? If you check online, are you able to locate your files there?
