Video download problem - no audio/hissing

Video download problem - no audio/hissing

I'm trying to download a video that was sent to me. When I preview the video in dropbox the audio plays fine, but when I download the file and play it I just get a loud hissing noise.

Hello @Deadtree22, thanks for reaching out to us.

Out of curiosity, have you tried downloading the file from another browser or previewing it using a different local third party app?

Let me know of any updates, cheers!

I never even saw that this was responded to, but I actually was just led back here because I'm having the same problem AGAIN with a completely new video from an altogether different person. I just tried your suggestion of downloading with a different browser, and it had no effect, still just hissing.

Hey @Deadtree22!

Could you try using an incognito window instead when downloading to see if there's a difference there?

Also, did you have the chance to try using another app to play the video as Lusil suggested?

Hi @literallysquidink, I’m sorry to hear you’re having the same issue.

Are you downloading your files from the Dropbox website or the mobile app?

Also, is this happening for multiple video files or for a specific one that you’ve downloaded?

Ive tried both website and app and I've tried multiple different videos on many different occasions!

Thanks for giving that a try!

Do you happen to have the Dropbox desktop app installed on your computer? If yes, can you please check if the video files have the same issue there and also, make a copy outside of the local Dropbox folder? Is the audio of the downloaded copy also distorted?

I’d like to check if this affects all platforms.
