View, download, and export
Need support with viewing, downloading, and exporting files and folders from your Dropbox account? Find help from the Dropbox Community.
Hello DB.
I have now, on multiple occasions, had clients write me that when they download a folder I sent them, the resulting .zip file will provide an error when decompressed. I have myself recreated this on a Macbook Air M2 on OS X Monterey and Big Sur. The downloaded zip file has the correct size, but is corrupt.
Best, Tor
Hey @torbachkristensen, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community today.
Which browser are you using to download the files?
Do you see any difference, if you download them from a different browser or a private browsing window?
And do the files preview correctly on the Dropbox website?
Keep me posted.

Hi @torbachkristensen, how large is the zip file once it is compressed and downloaded?

Hi there @torbachkristensen, sorry to jump in here.
Out of curiosity, could you try another 3rd party app for unzipping/decompressing the zip files you mentioned?

Hi @Walter,
How long will take to your developers to fix this old bug instead of advice to "try 3rd party app for unzipping/decompressing"? 🧐 Yes, it's likely some app can do the trick. It's clear that in some cases (not always) Dropbox makes folders letter cases mismatch. While this isn't typically a issue for systems (like Windows) where paths are not case sensitive, for most other systems (not only Linux and Mac) it can be an issue (like discussed here)! 🤷😡
Remind to your system developers/designers to fix this.
