When I open an Excel file on my iPhone it only opens in Excel but I want to open it in Numbers. How do I change the settings?
Thanks for the info, this could be an issue with the Excel app regarding the copying of characters.

Hey @Bruce M, thanks for using Dropbox and posting on our Community!
Have you tried long tapping on the file before opening the file and trying the 'open with' button from the options you get?
Otherwise, you could try exporting the file to your device or the Numbers app directly.
Let me know how you get on, Bruce.

I pressed and held but nothing else happened. I am using the iPhone.
I also tried downloading the file to my iPhone but it reacts exactly the same. No matter what I do, it always opens in excel.
The only way I get it to work is to download the file, open Numbers and then open the file with Numbers. A very slow process.
Hi @Bruce M, if you're experiencing the same issue when downloading the file to your phone, then it could be related to the settings on your device itself.
Is there a particular reason for opening an Excel file in Numbers on your device?

When I try to copy the data from a cell, Excel will not always copy all the characters. This is a password file with many special characters. Excel only captures some of the characters. Numbers always captures all the characters.
Thanks for the info, this could be an issue with the Excel app regarding the copying of characters.

I agree but I also know Microsoft is absolutely useless to help some their problems.
