Account Access
1330 TopicsNeed help accessing my account due to 2FA, and security one-time code.
Hello everyone! I am having the same issue as many people have had, but I am having no luck in getting it rectified and dropbox will not return any of my emails. I had two devices authorized on my account. My desktop computer and my phone, both had access to my dropbox. The email I had attached to the account, was for a business that was purchased and absorbed, so those email addresses were replaced and we had no access to them any longer. My devices however still had access, and I thought I had changed the recovery emails to my new email, and apparently that is the case. I needed a new phone, and of course the device wasn't recognized, so it said it sent the one time code to the other devices. I went to check on my desktop, and windows had performed an automatic update and had restarted the computer and I was unable to login there as well suddenly. I tried answering all of the questions via the recovery page, and it says that some answers are incorrect, and since I set the dropbox account up in 2017 I may have some of the dates wrong, I just don't recall exactly, but I thought I had them right. So as it sits, my desktop cannot access it, despite previously working for 7 years and is a recovery device, and my new phone cannot access it because I need a recovery code. I traded the old phone in for a credit and completely forgot about the 2fa, until it was too late. Honestly I don't even recall adding 2fa on dropbox, because I never would have, but maybe it is a default setting, I guess I don't know. I am a technical support specialist, and I had over 30 years worth of technical data, error codes, manuals and many other items that are irreplaceable. I even emailed dropbox to try and upgrade my account so I can use that account as a technical database for all of our technicians to utilize remotely in the field, but nobody will respond to me. I am at a loss, because this information is all of my personal stuff and is no longer available to me and I need it badly. If someone has a suggestion, I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.106Views0likes15CommentsI can’t access my old email as it is disabled by Yahoo. What to do with 2FA?

My dropbox associated to my current email is no longer linked to this particular email. I contacted one of the people that I have shared folders with a completely different email is now associated to my name and account. Is also possibly using my CC to pay for the additional space that I have payed for in the past. How can I recover my account? I have screenshots showing the email now associated with my previous account. I dont really know where to go for help. I guess I'm missing something fundamental but this to me seems to be an obvious security flaw. I have a paid up version of Dropbox. I want to be able to prevent Google ever signing into Dropbox in Windows. Doesn't matter what I've tried, the preventing of Google seems to be temporary and when I log out out and log back in it gives the choice of signing in with Google. Secondly I just want to be able to use a password with possible 2FA however that has been playing up in the last couple of days and it has an inability to Authenticate and I turn it off and it tells me I have to wait 24 hours to turn it back on again. I use VPN and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my concerns. Can anybody PLEASE advise me on how to prevent my ability to signon with Google.70Views0likes2CommentsMy account was inactive for 2 years and got deleted - can I recover it?

On 6/7 I contacted customer support regarding an account that I haven’t access since 2015. I recently realized that there are photos of a deceased family member on there that I don’t have anywhere else. After entering my credentials login, second factor code was sent to an email address. I no longer have access to. I reached out to support via email and they were able to verify my identity and temporarily remove the second factor authentication. I was extremely happy to have successfully been able to do this. However, when I went to log into my account, the account is now saying I’m entering the wrong password. I know for 100%, that I am using the correct password. I had the password saved and I only accessed the account for a short time and never change the password. I reached back out to customer service regarding this issue. I feel that it is most likely that my password was reset in 2016 after a data breach. But customer service is telling me that is not the case. Since I am sure, but I am using the right password, the only other logical explanation is that when the customer service representative reset the second factor authentication they messed up something with my password. At this point customer service to give me the runaround that they can’t help me if I don’t have access to the email. From hearing others experiences, I have seen that people have been able to regain access to their account without access to their email after speaking to an “ account security manager”. I have been requesting for a few days now to speak to an account security manager, but the agent said they wouldn’t be able to help me and there’s nothing that they can do. I reached out to dropbox on Facebook messenger and they said that they would note my concerns and have someone reach back out to me. The next day, a different representative reached out to me and provided me with the same disappointing answers the previous representative had provided to me. Even Instagram allows you the opportunity to upload a video and identification to regain access to your account. I fully appreciate that they take peoples memories seriously and don’t hold them hostage to the fullest extent. This is very frustrating because other customers have reported being in the same situation. They have also reported being given the opportunity to reset their password without access to their email (and they were also not logged in anywhere else) after speaking to an account security manager, and verifying their identification with them. As a customer it is very frustrating to see that other users have been given this opportunity and I am not I wonder why I am not being treated the same as other customers?130Views0likes11CommentsI would like a Passkey option
I managed to find a link that properly defines the use of a Passkey: help.dropbox.com/security/protect-account . However, the link provided at the bottom of the page, "Learn how to setup a passkey", goes to the TFA discussion, with no reference to 'Passkey' support! Also, the Dropbox Chatbot is moronic and unusable as it doesn't understand the word 'Passkey'. Very frustrating. I hope someone from DB monitors this forum.76Views0likes2CommentsI can't log in to my account due to the Captcha
The captcha takes multiple minutes to complete, and better yet, it will either say that I have failed the captcha OR complete the captcha to only refresh the page and ask me to log in again. Because of this, it is literally impossible to access my account. What is going on here?74Views0likes3CommentsI accidentally put the wrong date of birth while upgrading to Dropbox Family.
I was trying to sign up for a family plan, and I entered the wrong date of birth, which makes my age under 16 so I can't join now. I have sended a ticket #25271463, but I need the problem to be solved as soon as possible. How long dose it usually take for a request to be solved?36Views0likes1Comment
