"Can't Connect...check your internet connection" Android error
Whenever I try to view a file someone has sent me, the Dropbox app in my phone (Android, Samsung Galaxy S9+) says "couldn't connect to DropBox, please check your internet connection". I have internet connection (I've tried it with full LTE bars and with full wi-fi), but it still gives me the message and won't allow me to view the files. I've gone to the "Apps" area of my settings and have made sure the DeopBox app has all permissions. Any ideas about what could be causing this?

Hi daddiolong; welcome to the Community!
I'll be glad to look into this for you so could you send me a screenshot of the exact error you get and also let me know how exactly are you trying to access the mentioned file?
While we're at it, does this happen with only this specific file?
Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there.
PS: Our most recent version of the mobile app for Android devices is 182.2 currently so make sure you're running this version please.
- daddiolong6 years agoExplorer | Level 4I am more than willing to send you a screen shot. How do I do that?

OK, got ya. I had to log on via a computer; before I was on my phone and it didn't give me this option. This is what I see when I open a video file sent to my e-mail via another dropbox account and a link to view.

Thanks for the quick response daddiolong!
Now that you're on a computer, can you download the mentioned file and let me know its size and if you're able to preview it normally (be it on the web or on your computer)?

file size: 22.2 MB (23,329,479 bytes)
I'm not sure what you mean by "preview" the file. I can't preview it on my desktop. All I know is that I can't open video files on my phone when someone sends me a dropbox link to a video.
- GlennSG6 years agoHelpful | Level 6I am facing a similar problem with the android app.
Currently running 192.2.2.
Problem for me lies with loading all my files and folders through the app.
Navigating to "Home" I can see recent files and they're accessible.
However, when navigated to "files" I get the error as daddiolong. "Cannot connect to dropbox, make sure you're online and try again" - Walter6 years ago

Hi GlennSG; thanks for joining our discussion here and sorry to hear about the issue you're going through.
I'm not sure if this will do the trick, but can you please try to install our beta version of the mobile app on your Android devices and let me know if you're still noticing this?
Keep me posted!
- Lrichart6 years agoNew member | Level 2My Dropbox app on my Samsung galaxy 9plus is all of the sudden doing this also. I can't get the list of files. I can search for something but I can't see list of files I get this error.
- Michal H.26 years agoNew member | Level 2I have the same problem. I can access all folders except the first/main folder when I click on Files. So if I find a folder in Recent (or in Photos -> click on photo -> View in folder) I can move forwards and backward until I reach the first/main folder in my Dropbox. But if I *have to* enter a folder through Files I'm stuck.
I don't know how long the bug has been there, but I realised I had it about a week ago.
I'm running Samsung Galaxy S10+, and I have the latest version. Unsure if I have the beta though.
