Difficulty viewing .odt and .ods files (Libre Office)
Hi,
I always have difficulty viewing .odt and .ods files (Libre Office files). I don't have this problem using OneDrive. Anyone know why?

They are supported up to 40mb in size: https://help.dropbox.com/view-edit/file-types-that-preview
You've not, however, said what issue you are having.

I *can* view these files but it takes a long time to load and sometimes it fails and I have to try again and again. My main file is only 147 Kb!

Hi Miguelito67, how are you today?
Which platform do you use in order to preview these files? Our desktop app, mobile or website?
Also, does this happen with all your files, or only some of them?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan!
I'm using an iPhone 7. I'm beginning to think it only happens with files that have a background image (bitmap) in LibreOffice Writer. If that's the case, is there a way to make this work other than removing the background image?
Thanks,

Hey Miguelito67, sorry to jump in here, but have you tried clearing the app's cache since you first noticed this?
Also, are there any pending updates for your device's OS or the Dropbox mobile app perhaps?

Hi Walter,
No updates were needed and I cleared the cache. Same problem.
I made a copy of a file I often use but removed the background picture: I could view it on Dropbox withing a few seconds! With the original file it takes up to 60 seconds and often fails.
So I'm almost certain it's because of the background bitmap image.

Hey Miguelito67, can you also make sure that you have at least 500mb of free space on your device?
That would be your device's memory, not your Dropbox space.

Hi Hannah,
My iPhone has 91 Gb of free space (so over 91,000 Mb) 🙂

Thanks for checking, Miguelito67.
Does uninstalling the Dropbox app, restarting your device and then reinstalling it help?
Just keep in mind that if you're on a Basic account, there's a 3 device limit, so if you uninstall and have more than 3 devices, you won't be able to sign back into the app.

Hi Hannah,
I did do that a few times but to no avail.
