Slow search for words on file at Dropbox app makes the app freeze.
Hi, about a month I'm having issues on freezing on searching for words on any file at my dropbox app version 328.2.2 on Android.
When I hit the search bar for searching for a word like "family", and start typing the word ,it starts to freeze for each letter I type, it goes so slow that is unsuable.
Typing f-a-m-i-l-y takes forever.
Files are okay, if I downloaded to my mobile and make a search via Google, it works fine.
And as I said, it was working fine until last month, so It might bê something with any Dropbox upgrade.
I've already clear cache, clear history, reinstall Dropbox, but no solution.
Any suggestions?
PS: Ive Just figure out that this is happening only on LARGE PDF files (EX: 30mb, 15mb or even 8mb). Small ones like 1mb are okay.
The bigger the pdf, slowest for write words at search field.
So for sure something goes wrong on last update, because it works fine for the last 20years, or Dropbox is forcing me to move from basic...

Hi FelipeP, no worries, I'm here so that we can look into this!
First of all, great job troubleshooting this on your end. What is the OS that you're using on your device? Is it the latest one?
Also, do you notice the same behavior when you search for file types other than .pdf ones?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Last android update was on January, but it was working fine after update.
I do not have large files other than pdf to search. Word files are small.
Ive tried on my wife phone that are a slowerAndroid phone and same problem: large PDF files (tried a 70mb pdf file) and is almost impossible to write down the word to search, it keeps forever writing it. And small files like 5mb are okay.
I can make a video of it. - Walter3 years ago

Hey FelipeP, sorry to jump in here, but could you check how much space you have on your device?
Also, have you tried rebooting your device or clearing the app's cache to see if that improves matters?
Keep us posted!

As I said, "I've already clear cache, clear history, reinstall Dropbox, but no solution.

I have 147gb free of 256gb on my phone and my dropbox have 9gb free of 18gb, that I earned and uses for more than 20years when Dropbox give extra gb for friends indication. So I don't think is a hardware problem. Phone is working flawless.
And my wife, different android 12 phone have the same issue on large files. - Walter3 years ago

Thanks for the additional information, Felipe.
Would it be OK if we reached out via email to have a further look internally at this point?
